Ios and Santorini

Manganari or Kalamos beaches are more tucked away and offer the perfect setting to unwind and relax. Check out sunset bar Pathos situated on the cliff edge, offering a magnificent sunset view – the perfect ending to your day.

Travel further afield to the far end of Ios and discover ancient ruins and tombs, all set against a magnificent ocean backdrop. You must try typical Greek, taverna-style gastronomy at quaint restaurants in the old town of Katogi.

Oia, pronounced Ia, is the most enchanting village in Santorini. Here you will find quintessential Greece – whitewashed walkways lead off to sun-bathed verandas, blue-domed churches and charming houses. Below Oia, Amoudi Bay harbour has some of the island’s best gastronomical experiences.

Arrive by boat and hike to the active volcano, Nea Kahenh. The volcanic activity will excite your senses – think sulphur, steam and hot stone. Alternatively, explore the capital city of Fira by cable car down to the quay. Stroll along the cafe-lined promenade at Kamari between a rugged volcanic backdrop and enticing ocean views. The stunning Caldera is the legacy of the island’s volcanic past and is considered one of the most beautiful in the world.

Transport yourself to 3,500 BC at the Akrotiri Archaeological Site, a remarkably well preserved Minoan settlement that was once buried in volcanic ash. Visit ancient Thira that sits 360 m high on the steep Messavouno mountain, comprising temples and buildings from 11th Century BC.

As your Greek adventure comes to a close, make your way to Santorini airport for your onward flight. For those of you wanting to stay a little longer, we’d suggest adding in Mykonos as a third stop on your travels.
