This itinerary has been designed to maximise your experience of Thailand, a popular destination that offers everything from ancient temples and bustling nightlife to incredible Thai cuisine. Bangkok, the unofficial gay capital of Asia, is a city where you can find pretty much anything.
You’ll get to explore some of Thailand’s best destinations like the cultural hub of Chiang Mai surrounded by forests and traditional tribal villages, as well as the island paradise of Koh Samui with its pristine beaches like Chaweng and Lamai. Throughout your journey, you’ll be staying at the finest luxury hotels like the stylish So Sofitel in the heart of Bangkok and the colonial-style 137 Pillars House in Chiang Mai.
Get ready to visit an ethical elephant sanctuary like the renowned Elephant Nature Park near Chiang Mai, where you can observe these majestic animals roaming freely without riding them. Take a guided tour to the iconic Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi province, transporting you back to old Siam with its vibrant colours and lively commerce on the waters.
Explore Bangkok’s architectural wonders like the dazzling Grand Palace complex with its golden stupas and the Reclining Buddha at Wat Po. In Chiang Mai, venture into the ancient Lanna kingdom’s historic old town. Along the way, you’ll have chances to trek through verdant forests, visit tiny traditional villages, and indulge in the finest authentic Thai cuisine this amazing country has to offer.

Days 1-3: Bangkok
When you arrive in Bangkok your driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. You’ll be staying at the So Sofitel, one of our favourite hotels in Bangkok. It’s right in the heart of the city.
Over three days, you’ll be able to explore Thailand’s bustling capital. On a private guided tour, you’ll take a trip to Ratchaburi province and visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. It’ll take you back in time to the Siam of old. It’s a place of commerce and extraordinary colour and vibrancy. You’ll then head back to Bangkok and transfer to The Grand Palace. It’s an architectural wonder of golden stupas, walls and pillars encrusted in shining and colourful mosaics. It was once a residence of the Thai royal family. You’ll also take a trip to Wat Po and visit the Reclining Buddha.
Days 4-7: Chiang Mai
You’ll take a domestic flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and check into the 137 Hotel. It’s a stunning colonial-style 19th-century property. Chiang Mai is surrounded by forests, small villages and elephant sanctuaries. The city itself was once the heart of the Lanna kingdom. You’ll find some medieval remains in the city’s historic old town.
You’ll be taking a day trip to the Ethical Elephant Sanctuary. It’s a one hour drive to Elephant Nature Park in mountainous Mae Rim district outside Chiang Mai. Here you can observe free-roaming elephants (no riding), and enjoying the natural surroundings of the elephant sanctuary. An expert guide will show you around and give you insights into the lives of these extraordinary animals.
Chiang Mai has a lot to offer. You can explore the temples, take a hike into the forests and visit tribal villages.
Days 8-13: Koh Samui
You’ll take a flight from Chiang Mai to Koh Samui. You’ll be staying at the Ritz Carlton, a world-class luxury hotel. This is a great place to unwind. Your hotel will be so fabulous you might not want to leave. Should you be inclined to explore, Chiang Mai is the second biggest island in Thailand.
Explore the bustling Chaweng Beach or the more relaxed Lamai Beach. The final destination of your Highlights of Thailand trip is a place for you to enjoy some downtime. On the last day, you’ll be transferred back to Bangkok for your return flight.
