Viceroy Riviera Maya sits on a stretch of jungle and white-sand beach at Playa Xcalacoco, just north of Playa del Carmen on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. The resort is adults-only and works on an intimate scale, with the entire property made up of just 41 villas spread among the rainforest.
Every villa is residential in feel and comes with a private plunge pool, sunbathing deck, and outdoor shower. Aromatherapy from native trees is built into the turndown service and Egyptian cotton linens cover the bedding.
Wellness is the headline. The Wayak Spa pulls from ancient Mayan traditions, with a temazcal ceremony on site, a steam-based ritual using volcanic stones and traditional herbs, led by a Maák Bacab. Two restaurants, Coral and La Marea, cover the dining side, with private cooking sessions on Yucatán cuisine and a private cenote experience available 35 minutes away.

Luxury Villas
With 1,000 feet of living space to yourself and lush jungle beyond, you’ll get the perfect combination of privacy and luxury. Unwind in your private plunge pool whilst keeping an eye peeled for any passing iguanas. Longue around in your Italian linen bathrobes, and, if you decide that your bed isn’t comfortable enough your pillow butler is on call.
Signature Villas
Here you’ll enjoy 1,400 square feet of living space on the edge of the Mayan jungle. These secluded villas offer luxury and privacy in unforgettable surroundings.
Premium Villas
The Premium Villas offer unrivalled seclusion with over 1,700 square feet of living space. Though you’re comfortably nestled in the jungle you’re just a brief stroll away from the beach. Ideal if you’re on a romantic getaway.
Ocean View Villas
You’ll have 1,700 square feet of total living space and you’re right near the beach. If you don’t want to be tucked away in the jungle this could be an ideal choice. You’ll enjoy views of the ocean and the Caribbean coastline.
Beachfront Villas
Stay in a villa on the pristine white sands of the beach, with stunning sea views and 1,700 square feet of living space. You’re Majordomo (Butler) will take care of your needs, and nightly aromatherapy sessions will keep you nice and relaxed. You also get a pillow menu and soap concierge.

Dining
Two alfresco restaurants cover the dining side. Coral Restaurant + Bar is the two-tier daytime venue, with international and Mexican breakfasts and a seafood-heavy lunch and dinner menu. La Marea takes over at night with traditional Mexican cooking in an inventive register, served at the water’s edge. Culinary experiences include tequila and ceviche tastings led by an in-house Tequila Maestro, mezcal and taco pairings, tamale cooking lessons, and Mexican wine flights.
Wellness
Wayak Spa is the wellness centrepiece, built around ancient Mayan healing traditions and set within the jungle. The treatment menu pulls in native herbs from the Riviera Maya forest, with massages, facials, and energy therapies the core categories. The fitness centre sits in the rainforest with full equipment, plus yoga classes including Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Chakra, alongside meditation programmes, circuit training, and bodywork.
Location
The resort sits on Playa Xcalacoco, a stretch of beach in Solidaridad municipality, around 10 minutes north of Playa del Carmen and 45 minutes south of Cancún International Airport. The villas are set within thick rainforest directly on the Caribbean. Tulum is around an hour south, with the Mayan archaeological sites of Cobá, Chichén Itzá, and Tulum all within driving distance, and a private cenote experience available 35 minutes from the property.
