Malabar Hill sits 4 kilometres inland from Weligama on Sri Lanka’s south coast, on a hillside with views across wetlands, paddy fields and, in the distance, the Indian Ocean.
The property has 14 private villas, each with its own saltwater plunge pool, and the main building houses a 35-metre saltwater infinity pool, a restaurant and a bar with 270-degree views from hillside to sea.
A free shuttle runs to the hotel’s beach club at Weligama, around seven minutes away by road.
It is adults-only, there are no televisions in the rooms, and the wildlife that moves through the grounds includes monkeys, mongooses and the Malabar giant hornbill that gives the property its name.

Ocean View Villa
The Ocean View Villas have a king-size bed, floor-to-ceiling glass doors and look toward Weligama Bay and the Indian Ocean beyond.
Each has a private saltwater plunge pool and an outdoor lounge area on the terrace.
Wetland Sanctuary Pool Villa
The Wetland Sanctuary Pool Villas face the hillside and wetlands, with views across rice paddies, winding riverbanks and the jungle canopy.
Each has a king-size bed and a private saltwater plunge pool. The two villa types share the same level of finish throughout.

Food & Drink
The Signature Hill House Restaurant serves a menu that draws on Sri Lankan food heritage alongside Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences.
Breakfast is included in the rate and runs from 7.30am to 10.30am. Couples dining and private dinners can be arranged.
The bar sits alongside the restaurant and is shaped around an ornately carved wooden arc, with 270-degree views taking in the hillside and the ocean.
Spa & Wellness
The spa offers massages and beauty treatments using Spa Ceylon products, available either in the dedicated spa villa in the grounds or on your own private terrace beside your plunge pool.
The property has a yoga lawn for morning sessions and nature trails through the hillside vegetation. The Experience Coordinator can arrange any combination of these alongside cultural visits, picnics, village excursions and candlelit dinners.
Bicycles are available for guests who want to explore the area independently, and the free beach shuttle runs to the hotel’s setup at Weligama.
