Bairro Alto Hotel sits on Praça Luís de Camões at the intersection of Chiado and Bairro Alto, two of the most characterful neighborhoods in Lisbon.
The building dates to the 18th century and was expanded by award-winning Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, who added a new wing that brought the total to 87 rooms across six categories, alongside a restaurant, patisserie, wellness center, and rooftop terrace.
The renovation preserved the original facades while introducing a interior palette of warm tones, Portuguese craftsmanship, and Le Labo bath products throughout. All rooms feature double-glazed windows, ensuring quiet despite the hotel’s position in the heart of the city.
The location places guests at the center of Lisbon’s cultural life. The Santa Catarina miradouro, the Chiado museum district, Rua Garrett’s bookshops and fashion houses, and the tram connections down to the waterfront are all within a few minutes’ walk.

Accommodation
Rooms
Classic rooms start at 25 square meters, with some fourth-floor rooms featuring balconies overlooking the city. All rooms include Le Labo bathroom toiletries, complimentary pay-per-view movies, and double-glazed windows.
Junior Suites
Junior Suites feature heated floors, daily afternoon tea, and complimentary minibar snacks alongside the standard Le Labo amenities. Views look out over the neighborhood or the quiet side streets of the Chiado.
Tejo Suites
Four Tejo Suites are distributed across the first and third floors, decorated in shades of red or blue, with views over Lisbon’s rooftops and airport transfers included as standard.
Corner Suites
Corner Suites include in-room check-in, two flat-screen TVs, and daily-refreshed flowers, alongside heated floors and the afternoon tea service included across all suite categories.
Signature Suite
The Alecrim Signature Suite sits at the top floor corner of the new wing at 63 square meters, with east-facing panoramic views over Lisbon and the Tagus River. Airport transfers are included as standard.

BAHR
The fifth-floor restaurant serves Portuguese cuisine by Chef Bruno Rocha alongside a cocktail list, with a terrace extending out over the city with views across the Tagus River.
Rooftop Terrace Bar
The sixth-floor rooftop bar is open to hotel guests and the public for cocktails and light bites, with panoramic views over Lisbon and the river.
Patisserie
The ground-floor patisserie faces Praça Luís de Camões and serves freshly made Portuguese sweet and savory pastries throughout the day.
Library Bar
A mezzanine bar on the ground floor serving healthy meals and cocktails throughout the day.
Spa and Wellness
The Wellness and Fitness Center sits on the hotel’s lower level and includes a gym, a sauna, a steam room, and a dedicated spa with treatment rooms offering massages, body treatments, body wraps, and facials.
The spa uses natural Portuguese ingredients alongside international wellness brands, with treatments available to book throughout the stay.
The center is available to all hotel guests throughout the stay, with personal training available on request. Live music evenings run regularly in the hotel’s public spaces, typically in the library bar or on the rooftop terrace.
