At a glance
The St. Regis Rome has stood on Via Vittorio Emanuele Orlando since 1894, when César Ritz introduced it to Roman society as the first St. Regis in Europe. Built into a historic palazzo between the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, it spent the following 130 years drawing luminaries, artists and heads of state before emerging from a full restoration led by design firm Pierre-Yves Rochon.
The building makes its intentions clear from the moment you arrive, with a five-metre hand-blown glass chandelier anchoring the entrance lobby and the grand staircase running through the building. The Ritz Ballroom, introduced in 1894 as the first public ballroom in Rome and decorated with frescoes by Mario Spinetti.
What surrounds that history is equally considered. LUMEN operates as the social heart of the property, an all-day restaurant and cocktail bar running from breakfast through to the nightly Sabrage ceremony, while the spa runs in partnership with Sisley Paris and the Butler Service operates around the clock. The suite collection, built around Rubelli fabrics and a selection of art and antiques, has been put together for the kind of guests this hotel has always attracted.

Accommodation
Rooms
Every room and suite has been restored by Pierre-Yves Rochon with Rubelli fabrics, handmade glass and Sisley Paris bathroom amenities throughout, with travertine and bronze details referencing Rome’s traditions of craftsmanship.
Rooms range from the Superior, a city or courtyard-view category drawing on Empire, Regency and Louis XV design influences, stepping up through the Deluxe, which adds a sitting and working area, to the Imperial, which accommodates a third guest and serves as the entry point for connecting family configurations.
Suites
The collection is crafted for what the hotel calls luminaries and international travellers. Each suite carries its own distinct identity within a shared palette of light tones and precious Rubelli fabrics. Several have small balconies or terraces.
Two stand apart. The St. Regis Suite is the hotel’s grandest residential offering, with a separate living room, bedroom and the full sweep of the St. Regis service experience. The Royal Suite provides wraparound views, a curated collection of art and antiques.
