Grand Hotel Tremezzo has occupied the same stretch of Lake Como’s western shore since 1910, its canary-yellow Liberty facade facing directly across the water to Bellagio.
The family-run hotel closes each winter and reopens fully refreshed, which shows. Ninety rooms and suites are dressed in period antiques, oil paintings, and marble bathrooms, with the upper rooftop category adding private Jacuzzi terraces and views that stretch from Punta Balbianello to the Grigne mountains.
The hotel’s three pools include the floating water-on-water pool, a design feat that has become one of Lake Como’s most recognizable images.
Dining runs from La Terrazza, which upholds the legacy of the late Gualtiero Marchesi, to the lakeside Giacomo al Lago for a more relaxed fish-and-cocktails offer. The T Spa, housed in the 18th-century Villa Emilia, uses Santa Maria Novella treatments throughout and connects directly to an indoor infinity pool overlooking the lake.

Full Room and Suite Range
Grand Hotel Tremezzo’s 77 rooms and suites span park and lake views across multiple categories, from classic rooms with bow windows up to the rooftop tier. Signature Suites at 900 sq ft sit alongside Rooftop Corner and Front options with private Jacuzzi terraces. For complete privacy, Villa Sola Cabiati, the hotel’s 16th-century sister property with six suites and arabesque gardens, is available on an exclusive-use basis.
Rooftop Front Suites
The largest rooftop option at 650 sq ft, the Rooftop Front Suites read like a penthouse apartment: open-plan living, a sky-lit contemporary marble bathroom, and a 300 sq ft terrace with a Jacuzzi mini-pool taking in an uninterrupted view across the lake to Bellagio, Balbianello, and the Grigne mountains. Natural light runs throughout, and the bedroom sits tucked around its own private corner.
Rooftop Corner Suites
At 550 sq ft with a 250 sq ft private terrace, the Rooftop Corner Suites occupy the top-floor corners of the palace and combine a cleaner, more contemporary take on the hotel’s classic style with some of its most commanding views. The terrace carries a raised Jacuzzi mini-pool looking out over the lake, while inside, a pared-down marble bathroom and cozy bedroom keep the focus on the panorama.
Signature Suites
The Signature Suites are among the most storied accommodations in the hotel, each named after a woman integral to Grand Hotel Tremezzo’s history. Separate sitting rooms open onto lake-facing balconies through large French windows, while the bedrooms are intimate and richly dressed. Bathrooms deliver on the indulgence promise with round jacuzzi tubs. These are the suites that define the hotel’s patrician character most completely.

Dining and Drinks
Five outlets span the hotel’s palace and park. La Terrazza upholds the legacy of Gualtiero Marchesi, serving his signature dishes on a fine-dining terrace facing the lake. The wine cellar venue handles elevated local dishes and an extensive list in a converted space with its own veranda. Down at the beach, Giacomo al Lago delivers seafood and style in a more relaxed setting, while the Belle Epoque bar covers aperitivo through to nightcaps. A wood-burning pizza oven beside the Flowers Pool, staffed by Naples-trained pizzaioli, rounds out the offer.
T Spa
The T Spa occupies the 18th-century Villa Emilia, originally the library of Villa Carlotta, with original floor mosaics and frescoes still intact. The facility includes an indoor infinity pool that appears to cascade into the lake, a hammam clad in white Lasa marble, a full thermal circuit with Mediterranean steam room, sauna, and ice fountain, and treatment rooms using the Santa Maria Novella skincare line throughout. A private Spa Suite with its own whirlpool, sauna, and steam bath is available for couples or small groups. The fitness center, La Malpensata, occupies a separate 18th-century building with three floors of cardio, yoga, and strength training, each with lake views.
