AZULIK Tulum opened in 2000 as the first project by Roth Architecture, the studio of self-taught architect Eduardo Roth. The resort runs along a stretch of Caribbean coast between the sea and Mayan jungle, with the entire property designed as a treehouse-style structure built from local materials, organic curves, and no straight lines.
There are 48 seafront villas in total, each with its own design, and the whole property operates as a barefoot, adults-only universe. The name combines “azul” (blue in Spanish) with “Ik” (wind in Mayan).
The dining scene runs to eight venues. Kin Toh is the signature, a Mayan-Mexican avant-garde restaurant raised into the treetops 12 meters above the jungle canopy, with an underwater wine cellar that a diving sommelier retrieves bottles from. Tseen Ja covers Japanese cooking, and the new Italik opened in May 2025 as a contemporary trattoria. The Maya Spa, Oceanik Gym, the SFER IK art museum, and the Anikena fashion house complete the wider universe.

Aqua Villa
Aqua Villa are located in the most private part of Azulik. The Aqua Villas have indoor waterways, bejuco floors, elevated circular beds and geometrical mirrors. All of the villas at Azulik are designed to reconnect you with the natural environment. They don’t have air conditioning, TV or any electric light. The last thing you’ll want to be doing at Azulik is staring at your phone.
Sea Villas
Stay in a stunning eco-villa right by the sea. You’ll wake up to the sun rising over the Caribbean Sea. From your terrace you’ll be surrounded by stunning views. Unwind on the hanging Balinese bed or the outdoor tub. All villas are made from locally sourced materials.
Sky Villa
Staying in a Sky Villa is quite a dramatic experience. Perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean, the Sky Villas are ideal for lovers of the sea. You’ll be looking right at the Caribbean Sea as you unwind on your hanging bed.
Moon Villa
Staying in the main villa of AZULIK Tulum is living in a dream by the sea. Named after the moon’s radiance in the night sky, the Moon Villa is the ideal dwelling for creating cherished romantic memories.

Dining
The dining program runs to eight venues at the main hotel, including the treetop Kin Toh for avant-garde Mayan-Mexican, Tseen Ja for Japanese, and the new Italik trattoria, alongside Mantli, Elixik, Imix, Mirador del Maestro, and Copa del Pintor. At the sister AZULIK Uh May, 25 km inland, Jungle Cuisine serves forage-driven medicinal gastronomy and the Mezcal Sanctuary runs guided agave tastings.
Wellness
The Maya Spa anchors the wellness side, with treatments rooted in ancestral Mayan healing practices and woven into the resort’s barefoot, ritual-driven character. The Oceanik Gym takes care of the fitness side with ocean-facing facilities. The wider AZULIK universe also includes the House of Ancestral Medicine, which runs ceremonies tied to traditional Mesoamerican healing for AZULIK Club members and guests.
Location
AZULIK Tulum is on Tulum’s Caribbean beachfront on the south end of the Riviera Maya, in the state of Quintana Roo. Cancún International Airport is around a two-hour drive north, and the Tulum archaeological site is a short drive away. The sister AZULIK Uh May, the brand’s cultural center, is around 25 km inland in the village of Francisco Uh May, between Tulum, Cobá, and Muyil.
