Amatara Wellness Resort, formerly Welleisure, is a five-star spa retreat on the quiet Cape Panwa headland in southeast Phuket.
Amatara spreads across a hillside at the tip of Cape Panwa, on Phuket’s secluded southeast coast, with a private beach below and wide views over Panwa Bay. Accommodation runs to around 105 sea-facing rooms, suites, pavilions, and pool villas, the villas with their own private pools.
Wellness is why most people come, with integrative programs, a naturopath consult on arrival, yoga, and detox retreats run alongside regular leisure stays. The signature is the Thai Hammam, blending Moroccan and Turkish bathing rituals with Thai spa. Dining runs from the Thai Siri to the seafood-led Scene and a rooftop terrace.
It works for couples, gay or straight, after a quiet, healthy escape, and for solo wellness guests, while a kids’ club and pools make space for families. Cape Panwa is remote, around 20 minutes from Phuket Town and 45 minutes from the airport.

Dining
Dining doubles as part of the wellness side, with healthy menus and full-board retreat plans alongside regular a la carte. Siri is the Thai restaurant, serving breakfast and Phuket dishes at dinner, while Scene is the signature seafood and grill room with sea views and a long wine list. Sun & Moon, a rooftop terrace, opens for sunrise yoga and sunset drinks. Beach and poolside bars fill the gaps.
Wellness
Wellness is the core of Amatara, built around tailored programs that start with a naturopath consultation and can run to multi-day detox, fitness, and sleep retreats. The signature is the Thai Hammam, which folds Moroccan and Turkish bathing rituals into Thai spa therapy, alongside a full treatment menu, yoga, and a gym. An infinity pool over the bay and the private pool villas handle the leisure half of the equation.
Location
Amatara is at the end of Cape Panwa, a headland on the quiet southeast corner of Phuket, well away from the island’s busy west-coast beaches and nightlife. The setting is the trade-off: secluded, green, and calm, with a private beach and bay views, but a drive from most of Phuket’s attractions. Phuket Town is around 20 minutes, the airport about 45, and the Phuket Aquarium is just down the road.
