Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui is a five-star villa resort along a private bay on the island’s northwest tip, recently the setting for The White Lotus.
The villas climb a green hillside above a private bay at Laem Yai, in the quiet northwest corner of Koh Samui, with golf buggies running down to the beach and a 50-meter pool. Each has its own infinity pool, a deck, and wide views over the Gulf of Thailand.
Villas range from one-bedroom Serenity and Ocean Pool Villas up to multi-bedroom Residence Villas with kitchens and a live-in host. Dining runs from Thai at the hilltop Koh Thai Kitchen to seafood at the beachside Pla Pla, plus CoCoRum, a rum bar holding Asia’s first rum vault.
It works for honeymooners and couples, gay or straight, after seclusion, while a kids’ club, tennis, and watersports suit families too. The bay is quiet and private, and Samui Airport is about 30 minutes east.

Dining
Koh Thai Kitchen is the hilltop Thai restaurant, with terrace views and a popular breakfast spread, while Pla Pla works the beach with seafood and Mediterranean grilling. Drinks run through Koh Bar and CoCoRum, the poolside rum bar built around the Rum Vault, Asia’s first and only rum library. The resort also sets up private beach dinners and in-villa dining for anyone wanting to stay put.
Wellness
The Secret Garden Spa is set in tropical foliage above the bay, with treatments in open-air Thai salas that have their own outdoor bathtubs and steam rooms, drawing on Thai healing and local herbs. There is a yoga pavilion with a complimentary morning session, a 50-meter infinity pool, and a hilltop Muay Thai ring for anyone who wants to train. Every villa also has its own pool.
Location
The resort is on a private bay at Laem Yai, on the northwest tip of Koh Samui, away from the island’s busier east-coast beaches and towns. The setting is the appeal: a steep green headland dropping to a quiet stretch of sand, with views across the Gulf to the Five Islands offshore. Fisherman’s Village at Bophut is around 20 minutes, and Samui International Airport about 30.
