The Sarojin is a boutique, eco-minded luxury resort on a long, quiet beach at Khao Lak, north of Phuket.
The Sarojin spreads 56 residences through ten acres of gardens around an old ficus tree, with direct access to the Andaman shore. The design is low-key contemporary Asian, and the resort plants a tree for every booking.
Residences come in three types: the Garden Residence, the Pool Residence with an onyx plunge pool and garden sala, and the upper-floor Jacuzzi Pool Suite with a heated whirlpool pavilion. Two restaurants anchor the dining, the Mediterranean Ficus and the beachfront Thai Edge, backed by a wine cellar.
It is quiet and romantic, a fit for honeymooners and couples, gay or straight, with over-tens welcome and connecting residences for families. The Similan and Surin Islands are an easy boat trip for diving, and Phuket Airport is about an hour south.

Dining
Two restaurants lead the dining. Ficus, set under the resort’s old ficus tree by a lily pond, runs contemporary Mediterranean cooking, while Edge is on the beach for Thai and Southeast Asian dishes. The Wine Bar and Cellar adds an award-winning list and tapas, and the kitchen is known for private dinners set up around the grounds. Breakfast comes a la carte, with sparkling wine, served well into the afternoon.
Wellness
Pathways Spa is an open-air spa raised over the estuary, with treatment pavilions among the trees, several set up for couples with their own baths, plus a facial room and a shaded yoga and tai chi deck. Its treatments draw on traditional Thai techniques and the idea of metta, or loving kindness. Beyond the spa there is an infinity pool with a sunken jacuzzi lounge, a fitness center, and free use of kayaks and bikes.
Location
The Sarojin is at Khao Lak, on the mainland coast of Phang Nga north of Phuket, with direct access to an 11-kilometer stretch of Andaman beach sheltered by Pakarang Cape, calm enough for year-round swimming. It is a quiet, natural setting, close to a few local beach restaurants but otherwise away from the crowds. Khao Lak is the main gateway to the Similan and Surin Islands, and Phuket Airport is about an hour south.
