Set on the private island of Muravandhoo in the northern Raa Atoll, JOALI Maldives is the first resort in the country built around art, and the sister property to the wellbeing-focused JOALI BEING nearby. Site-specific works by international artists run through the villas, the public spaces, and the beaches, including Porky Hefer’s Manta Ray treehouse, which doubles as a private dining room. The island is reached by a 40-minute seaplane flight from Malé.
Accommodation runs to 73 villas and residences across beach and overwater categories, all with private pools and curated art and design throughout. Two-bedroom family villas come with two pools.
The resort holds a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating and a Michelin Key, with five restaurants, a spa, and a strong kids’ program covering the rest of the offering.

Three Bed Ocean Residence, Two Pools
This expansive over-water sanctuary is the epitome of luxury and elegance. It features two infinity pools, three beautifully designed bedrooms, and uninterrupted ocean views. Capable of hosting up to six guests, the residence has an interior area of 400 square meters and a total space of 990 square meters.
It offers amenities like outdoor dining, a private spa treatment room with ocean views, and intricate interiors that blend seamlessly with the outdoor vistas.
Beach Villa with Pool
The Beach Villas occupies the entire unit located on the ground floor and can accommodate up to three people.
This Villa features a double bed, a separate living space including a seating and dining area, and a spacious private garden with an infinity pool.

The Family Beach villa is ideal for small groups and families, with two pools – one overlooking the ocean vistas, while the backyard pool is set amid lush foliage.

Dining
JOALI runs five dining venues. Vandhoo is the main all-day restaurant, covering Southeast Asian, Chinese, Mediterranean, and Levantine cooking with a lavish breakfast spread. Saoke is the signature, an overwater Nikkei and Japanese restaurant designed by architect Noriyoshi Muramatsu. Bellinis handles Tuscan slow food and handmade pastas under Michelin-starred chef Theodor Falser, and TUH’U serves Levantine cuisine alfresco. Mura Bar covers drinks, a whiskey and cigar lounge, and Lajoie, with over 60 ice cream flavors.
Wellness
The JOALI Spa by ESPA is set within the island’s gardens, entered through a spherical reception surrounded by water. Treatment rooms include overwater VIP pavilions with private saunas and a Turkish-inspired hammam, with each ESPA treatment beginning with a coconut water infusion. The signature is a Maldivian healing massage using coconut oil and warm seashells. A Technogym fitness center, yoga and Pilates studios, an overwater meditation deck, and a healing garden round out the wellness side.
Location
JOALI Maldives is on the 24-acre island of Muravandhoo in the Raa Atoll, around 280 km north of Malé. It is reached by a 40-minute seaplane flight, or a 35-minute domestic flight to Ifuru Airport followed by a 15-minute speedboat. Raa Atoll is one of the largest and deepest atolls in the world, rich in marine life, with the resort’s house reef best accessed from the sunrise side and manta and reef shark dive sites within easy reach.
