Brazil is one of the great honeymoon countries, and for same-sex couples it’s among the most welcoming destinations anywhere in the world. Same-sex marriage has been legal nationwide since 2013, Rio hosts one of the largest Pride celebrations on the planet, and the warmth that defines Brazilian culture extends, almost without exception, to LGBTQ+ travelers.
Add to that some of the most dazzling landscapes in South America, a coastline of more than 4,600 miles, a food scene moving from regional tradition to global recognition, and an unmistakable sensuality woven through everything from the music to the way people greet one another on the street, and you have a country built for the trip of a lifetime.
The shape of this honeymoon is deliberate. Rio de Janeiro for the culture, the energy, and the gay beach that has made Ipanema’s Posto 9 a global landmark. Trancoso on the Bahia coast for the part of the trip that’s really about the two of you: a former fishing village turned barefoot-luxury hideaway, anchored by the Quadrado, a grassy village square lined with whitewashed houses in sherbet colors. The combination gives you both registers of Brazil in one trip, statement and stillness, without the diluting effect of too many stops.

Day 1: Arrival in Rio de Janeiro
Private transfer from Galeão International Airport to your hotel in Ipanema or Copacabana. Check in, unwind, and ease into Rio time with a quiet first dinner and an early night.
Day 2: Christ the Redeemer & Sugarloaf
Early private tour of Rio’s two iconic peaks, timed to beat the cruise crowds. Lunch at Aprazível in Santa Teresa, with tables tucked into the hillside garden. Afternoon at leisure. Sunset at Arpoador, where locals gather on the rocks to applaud the sun going down.
Day 3: Ipanema Beach Day
A slow morning, then down to Posto 9, Ipanema’s gay stretch of sand marked by the rainbow flags. Lunch beachside, an afternoon swim, and rooftop cocktails as the sun drops behind Dois Irmãos.
Day 4: Rio Your Way
Choose your own pace. Options include a private favela tour with a community-led guide, a helicopter flight over Guanabara Bay, a samba lesson, or simply another day on Ipanema. Evening reserved for a curated nightlife experience with private driver: cocktails in Ipanema and on to the gay nightlife scene, should you be inclined to explore.
Day 5: Rio to Trancoso
Morning flight from Rio to Porto Seguro, met on arrival and transferred south by private car to Trancoso (around 90 minutes including the short ferry crossing). Check in, settle, dinner on the Quadrado as the village lights come on.
Day 6: Praia dos Nativos
A morning at the pool, lunch at one of the barracas on Praia dos Nativos, and a long afternoon on the sand. Sunset caipirinhas back on the Quadrado.
Day 7: Praia do Espelho
Full-day private excursion to Praia do Espelho, widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil. Natural tidal pools at low tide, lunch at Restaurante Silvinha (reservations essential), and a slow return.
Day 8: Spa & Stillness
A morning at leisure, followed by a couples’ treatment drawing on indigenous Pataxó wellness traditions. Private beach picnic in the afternoon if the mood takes you. Quiet dinner at Capim Santo.
Day 9: Trancoso at Your Pace
A free day. Most couples spend it doing very little: pool, beach, hammock, repeat. Optional horseback ride along the sand at golden hour.
Day 10: Departure
Morning at leisure, private transfer to Porto Seguro for your flight home or onward to Iguazu.

Optional Extension: Iguazu Falls (2 nights)
If you’ve built in twelve days or more, Iguazu is the natural finale. Straddling the Brazilian and Argentine border, this is one of the great natural wonders of the world: 275 individual cascades thundering through subtropical rainforest over a stretch nearly two miles wide, with rainbows arcing through the spray and toucans crossing overhead.
The scale only really lands in person. Photos flatten it. Standing on the walkway as the Devil’s Throat roars beneath your feet is the kind of moment that finishes a honeymoon properly.
Fly from Porto Seguro to Foz do Iguaçu via São Paulo and stay inside the Brazilian national park, where the gates close to day visitors in the late afternoon and the falls become almost yours.
Walk the Brazilian side at sunrise before the crowds arrive, cross to the Argentine side for the longer trail network and the Devil’s Throat walkway the following day, and add a helicopter flight over the falls if you want the view from above. Two nights is enough to do it well without disrupting the rhythm of the rest of the trip.
