In detail

Days 1 - 3: Buenos Aires, Ushuaia and The Drakes Passage

Arrive in Buenos Aires and settle into your luxury hotel, where you’ll be welcomed by Source Journeys hosts and fellow travelers ahead of the adventure to come. Fly south to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city, for a scenic visit to Tierra del Fuego National Park before boarding World Navigator. Over the next two days, cross the legendary Drake Passage, where soaring albatross, open seas, and shifting light mark the thrilling passage toward Antarctica.

Days 1 - 3: Buenos Aires, Ushuaia and The Drakes Passage

Day 4: Beak Island

Rising from the Weddell Sea, Beak Island marks your arrival in the true wilds of Antarctica. Volcanic cliffs contrast with sweeping glaciers, while vast colonies of Adélie penguins animate the icy landscape. As Zodiacs approach the shoreline, seals rest on drifting ice and skuas circle overhead. This first landing is profoundly humbling, defined by immense scale, deep silence, and a raw beauty shaped entirely by nature.

Day 4: Beak Island

Day 5: Brown Bluff

At the northeastern edge of the Antarctic Peninsula, Brown Bluff rises in a dramatic amphitheater of rust-colored volcanic cliffs, one of the most striking landscapes in Antarctica. Shades of ochre and black stand in bold contrast to the surrounding ice and snow. Colonies of Adélie and gentoo penguins animate the shoreline, their calls echoing off the bluff. When conditions allow, a landing here offers the rare opportunity to step onto the Antarctic continent. If not, Zodiac cruises reveal sculpted ice, resting seals, and seabirds gliding overhead in a scene that feels utterly wild and timeless.

Day 5: Brown Bluff

Day 6: Lemaire Channel

Often called the “Kodak Gap,” the Lemaire Channel is one of Antarctica’s most breathtaking passages. This narrow corridor between Booth Island and the Antarctic Peninsula is lined with glaciers and towering peaks that rise sheer from the sea, their reflections mirrored in glassy waters below. As World Navigator glides through the stillness, guests gather on deck to take in drifting icebergs, curious penguins skimming the surface, and the occasional whale breaking the calm. When conditions allow, Zodiac cruises weave among sculpted ice for an even closer encounter with this pristine, cinematic landscape.

Day 6: Lemaire Channel

Day 7: Neko Harbour

Nestled deep within Andvord Bay, Neko Harbor is one of the rare places on the Antarctic Peninsula where you can step onto the continent itself. Calm waters and towering glaciers create a dramatic natural amphitheater, setting the scene for a truly memorable landing. Gentoo penguins bustle across the snow while seals lounge on drifting ice, and the stillness is punctuated by the thunder of calving glaciers. From the ridge above, sweeping views across Andvord Bay reveal a vast expanse of silver-blue light and open horizon. For many travelers, this moment defines the Antarctic experience, standing at the edge of the world, immersed in nature at its most powerful and pure.

Day 7: Neko Harbour

Day 8: Captains Choice

Your Captain will expertly navigate ice floes, icebergs and changing sea and weather conditions to ensure you experience the most from your expedition. Each day is a new adventure filled with a spontaneous sense of exploration as your Captain works with our expedition team to determine possible shore landings and Zodiac safaris. All itinerary routes serve as examples and are subject to change based on current conditions, prioritizing the safety and optimal expedition experience for all guests.

Day 8: Captains Choice

Day 8 - 11: Drakes Passage

As World Navigator makes the return crossing of the Drake Passage, calmer seas and softer light signal our journey back toward South America. A sense of gratitude settles on board for the landscapes explored, the wildlife encountered, and the friendships formed at the edge of the world. The silhouette of Cape Horn marks both an ending and a beginning. Soon, the peaks of Tierra del Fuego come into view as we arrive in Ushuaia, where we disembark and fly by private charter to Buenos Aires. As the mountains fade beneath the wing, Antarctica lingers not just as a place visited, but as a lasting feeling of awe, connection, and shared discovery.

Day 8 - 11: Drakes Passage
