Slow Travel Fiji: A Luxury Long Stay Adventure

At a glance

? Don't forget that all of our itineraries are totally customized and so this is just an idea of what we can build for you.

Most Fiji itineraries move quickly; this one does not, and that is the entire point. Spend

Fifteen days is enough time to complete a full open-water diving certification properly, to move between islands without rushing the ferry transfers, and to stay long enough within one community that a single day trip never allows.

The extra time is not spent adding more stops to the schedule; it is spent going deeper into fewer of them.

The fifteen days move from arrival and settling in, through a proper diving certification, into slow island-hopping by ferry, a multi-day stay within a local community, and a final stretch left open on purpose.

A truly tailor-made trip, our specialists will weave together the resorts, the route between islands, and the pacing itself to suit your needs once you inquire.

Fiji was one of the first countries in the world to legally protect LGBTQ+ people from discrimination, and an extended stay within a single region means fewer new places to navigate and fewer new sets of local customs to learn as you go.

In detail

? Don't forget that most of our itineraries can be totally customized. Our expert team will be able to talk you through all the options.

Days 1-2: Arrival and Settling In

You fly into Nadi and transfer to your base resort, with these first two days deliberately left open.

There is no itinerary to catch up on and nothing to rush toward.

Most travelers spend this time adjusting to the time difference, exploring the resort grounds at their own pace, and having an early conversation with the dive team about scheduling the certification course that begins shortly after.

Days 1-2: Arrival and Settling In

Days 3-5: Learning to Dive

These three days are built around a full open-water diving certification, taught properly over several sessions rather than compressed into a single afternoon.

Mornings are spent in the water with an instructor, afternoons are left open for the classroom and pool sessions the course requires, and the certification itself is completed by the end of Day 5.

Evenings are unstructured, with most travelers choosing an early night given the pace of the course.

Days 3-5: Learning to Dive

Days 6-8: Island to Island

With the certification complete, these three days move between two or three smaller islands by ferry, at a pace that leaves real time in each place rather than a quick stop and a photo.

Each island offers something different: a quieter beach, a different reef to dive now that you are certified, or simply a change of scenery after the structure of the previous days.

Transfers are arranged so that no single day feels rushed.

Days 6-8: Island to Island

Days 9-11: A Village Stay

Three days are spent in and around a single community, arranged directly with the village rather than as a scripted visit.

This is not a day trip; you stay nearby, take part in daily life as a guest rather than a spectator, and leave with a genuine sense of the place rather than a single afternoon’s impression.

Fijian hospitality extends warmly to LGBTQ+ travelers in this setting, though as elsewhere in the South Pacific, discretion around public affection is the local norm once you are outside a resort.

Days 9-11: A Village Stay

Days 12-14: Slowing Down Further

These final three full days are the least structured of the trip, spent back at a resort with nothing scheduled beyond what you choose to add: another dive now that you are certified, a full day doing nothing at all, or a final excursion to whichever island left the strongest impression earlier in the trip.

By this point in a fifteen-day stay, most travelers have settled into a rhythm that no longer needs planning.

Days 12-14: Slowing Down Further

Day 15: Departure

Your last morning allows for one final swim or dive before the transfer back to Nadi and your flight home.

What you carry back from fifteen days is depth rather than a list: a certification earned properly, a handful of islands actually experienced rather than glimpsed, and a few days at the end spent doing nothing at all, on purpose.

Day 15: Departure
