India Gay Honeymoons
India isn’t the first place most couples picture for a gay honeymoon, and that’s understandable. The legal picture is still evolving; homosexuality was decriminalized in 2018, though marriage equality hasn’t followed yet, and attitudes vary a lot between the major cities and everywhere else.
What India offers is genuinely hard to match elsewhere. Few honeymoons let a couple watch the sun rise over the Taj Mahal one morning and drift down Kerala’s palm-lined backwaters on a private houseboat a few days later, then swap it all for a wellness retreat in the Himalayan foothills before the trip’s out.
Luxury hotels across the country, from heritage palaces in Rajasthan to backwater houseboats in Kerala, are used to hosting couples and can handle the practical side without fuss, joint suites, private dining, and quiet arrangements that don’t require an explanation.
Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru have the most visible LGBTQ+ scenes, with Pride events and a nightlife that’s grown considerably since 2018, and they make sensible bases for the city portions of a trip.
Outside those cities, a lower-key approach in public to holding hands and showing affection is recommended, and a good private guide or driver makes India easier to navigate without it weighing on the honeymoon itself.

Planning a Gay Honeymoon in India
India rewards couples willing to build the trip around its size rather than trying to see all of it. Rajasthan alone could fill a week: heritage hotels converted from actual palaces in Udaipur and Jaipur, forts that once housed maharajas, and a desert safari out of Jaisalmer under skies with none of the light pollution of a major city. We plan the transfers between each stop carefully, since distances here are larger than they first appear on a map.
Goa works as the honeymoon’s more relaxed stretch. Its beach culture has drawn LGBTQ+ travelers for decades, and we book boutique resorts along the coast that are used to hosting couples without the questions that might come up elsewhere. It is a natural place to slow the pace down after a few days of temples and forts.
Holi, if the trip lines up with it, is worth building a day around regardless of where else the itinerary goes. Crowds fill the streets throwing colored powder at each other, strangers included, and it is one of the few festivals anywhere that turns an entire city into a shared celebration for a single afternoon.
Mumbai and Delhi anchor the more contemporary side of the trip, with a nightlife and dining scene that has grown substantially since 2018, and both make sensible bookends for a trip that otherwise spends most of its time outside the big cities.

Honeymoon And Wedding Gift List Registry
When it comes to weddings and honeymoons, more couples are choosing experiences over traditional gifts. Instead of toasters or tableware, imagine receiving a sunset catamaran cruise, a private beach dinner in the Maldives, or a guided wine tour in Tuscany. A honeymoon and wedding gift list service transforms your big day into something truly unforgettable by allowing friends and family to contribute to curated luxury experiences that make your honeymoon extraordinary.

A dawn boat ride along the Ganges in Varanasi is one of the more striking mornings a couple can spend together, the ghats lit by oil lamps as the city wakes up around the river. It’s a different register from the rest of the trip, quieter and more contemplative than a palace tour or a beach afternoon.
Wildlife safaris are worth building in if the itinerary allows. Ranthambore and Bandhavgarh national parks both offer a real chance at spotting tigers in the wild, alongside leopards and a wide range of birdlife, and a private jeep with an experienced guide makes the difference between a good sighting and a long, empty drive.
Munnar’s tea estates in the Western Ghats give couples a slower, greener few days, rolling hillsides covered in tea plants, cooler air than the coast, and plantation stays that come with guided walks through the estates themselves.
The Golden Temple in Amritsar is worth the detour for couples interested in Sikh history and architecture, a gold-plated shrine set in the middle of a large reflecting pool, most striking at night when it’s lit and the crowds have thinned.
Enjoy a private tour of the Taj Mahal

Bora Bora vs Maldives: The Luxury Gay Travel Guide
Two destinations. Two oceans. Two very different answers to the same question. Where in the world can you wake up above turquoise water, spend your days doing very little beautifully, and feel properly, extravagantly far from home? Bora Bora and the Maldives are the destinations most luxury travel lovers think of first. Both deliver overwater bungalows, world-class hotels, and lagoons that look implausible in photographs and even more implausible in person.
ReadBest Time For A Gay Honeymoon In India
October through March is the strongest window for an India honeymoon, with cooler, drier weather across Rajasthan, the Golden Triangle, and Kerala. December and January bring the most comfortable temperatures for the Taj Mahal and Jaipur’s palaces, while Kerala’s backwaters are at their calmest and greenest just after the monsoon, from November through February.
April through June turns hot across most of the country, with Rajasthan regularly exceeding 100°F, making this the least comfortable stretch for sightseeing outside hill stations. The monsoon runs roughly June through September, heaviest in Kerala and the south, and while some couples enjoy the dramatic scenery it brings, most honeymoon itineraries are built around it rather than through it.
Goa follows its own rhythm, with a lively peak season from November through February that includes New Year celebrations, then quiets considerably once the rains arrive by June.
Tell us where your mind keeps going back to. We will do the rest.
Start planning your honeymoonStart planning→Best Places To Combine For An Indian Honeymoon
The Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur remains the most popular starting point for a bespoke India honeymoon, connected by short drives or fast trains, and covers the Taj Mahal, Amber Fort, and Delhi’s Mughal architecture in about five days.
Couples wanting a second, very different half to their honeymoon typically fly on to Kerala for backwater houseboat stays and beach time in Kovalam or Varkala, a combination that pairs cultural sightseeing with a slower, more romantic close to the trip. Goa or Mumbai are the other common additions, depending on whether the priority is beach time or city energy.
For couples who want to extend beyond India itself, Kathmandu is a short flight from Delhi and adds a Himalayan close to the trip, with mountain views, Kathmandu Valley’s temples, and a noticeably slower pace than the Golden Triangle.
The best trips begin with a conversation, not a booking form.

Is India safe for a gay honeymoon?
India decriminalized same-sex relationships in 2018, and while the Supreme Court has not extended legal recognition to same-sex marriage, attitudes in major cities and tourist areas have grown considerably more open. Discretion is still advisable outside hotels and resorts, particularly around public displays of affection, and this is a place where a well-connected luxury travel agent’s choice of hotel matters.
Which region is better for a honeymoon, Kerala or Rajasthan?
Rajasthan suits couples who want palaces, forts, and a classic first taste of India, while Kerala offers a slower, greener, more relaxed second half built around backwaters and beaches. Most honeymoons combine both rather than choosing one.
How many days should we plan for an India honeymoon?
Ten to fourteen days allows time for the Golden Triangle plus Kerala or Goa without feeling rushed. A shorter trip of seven to eight days works, focused on just the Golden Triangle and one additional stop.
No two trips we plan are the same. Yours will be no exception.
Every itinerary starts as a blank page and is shaped around your pace, your routing and the places you actually want to see.
