Rather than moving quickly between sights, the days here are shaped around slowness, with two distinct properties chosen specifically for the depth of their wellness programming rather than for size or spectacle.
The first half of the stay unfolds at Heritage Le Telfair, a colonial-era estate on the southwest coast whose spa draws on centuries-old Mauritian wellness traditions alongside more contemporary treatments.
The second half moves to Shanti Maurice on the south coast, a resort built specifically around its wellness identity, with a program of yoga, meditation, and holistic therapies set against some of the island's most dramatic, unspoiled coastline.
Mauritius has made real progress for LGBTQ+ travelers in recent years, decriminalizing same-sex relationships in 2023, and this itinerary is a particularly welcoming choice for LGBTQ+ couples seeking genuine rest rather than a packed schedule of activity.

Days 1-4: Heritage Le Telfair
Arrival transfers guests directly to Heritage Le Telfair, set within a former sugar estate on Mauritius’s southwest coast. The first day is intentionally unstructured, with time to settle into a suite overlooking the estate’s gardens and the Black River Mountains beyond, before an early dinner at one of the property’s restaurants.
The following days settle into a rhythm built around the spa’s signature treatments, drawing on local ingredients such as vanilla, sugar cane, and volcanic clay, alongside a full program of yoga and guided meditation sessions held in a garden pavilion.
For those who want a change of pace, the estate borders a golf course and a private beach a short shuttle away, and horseback riding across the estate grounds can be arranged for a single morning without disrupting the overall sense of stillness.
Evenings can be spent at the estate’s colonial-era plantation house, now converted into a restaurant serving Mauritian and Creole dishes, or simply on a private terrace watching the light change over the mountains.
Days 5-8: Shanti Maurice
A short transfer along the south coast delivers guests to Shanti Maurice, a resort built from the ground up around wellness rather than having it added on. The setting itself does much of the work: dramatic cliffs, a long stretch of protected beach, and a noticeably quieter stretch of coastline than the island’s more developed north.
Days here follow a personalized wellness program, developed in consultation with the resort’s practitioners and adjusted throughout the stay according to how each day feels. Ayurvedic treatments sit alongside more contemporary spa therapies, and a full oceanfront yoga deck hosts sessions timed around sunrise for those who want to start the day that way.
Guests less inclined toward structure are equally well served: much of the stay can simply be spent between the infinity pool, the beach, and a hammock strung beneath the property’s tamarind trees.
The final evening closes with a private dinner arranged on the beach, a fitting way to end a week built around doing considerably less than usual and feeling considerably better for it.
