Gondwana Game Reserve is an 11,000-hectare private reserve. It’s a great place to pursue the Big 5 and discover the magic of the African bush. You’ll be staying in luxury accommodation in a place of great natural beauty. A full itinerary can be plotted out for you. Expect early starts as you set out on game drives in an open range rover. Full board and half board packages are available.

Located in the heart of the Garden Route, this is a truly stunning setting. Cape Town is just a four-hour drive away. The reserve is covered in Fynbos vegetation that illuminates the surrounding valleys. The luxury suites are nestled within the verdant surroundings.

Homosexuality is regarded as a complex issue in much of Africa, but in South Africa it’s far easier. South Africa is the unofficial gay capital of Africa and you’ll find Africa’s biggest LGBTQ+ community in Cape Town.

Accommodation

A modern twist on traditional Khoi-San dwellings, these luxurious lodges come with infinity pools, a separate dining room and an open plan lounge and bar. You’ll have a traditional boma outside (a firepit and sitting area).

There are 14 open plan suites at Kwena Lodge. Each one is around 70m2.

The Bush Villas And Fynbos Villas are like private homes. They’re ideal for families or larger groups. The layout is open plan and there are three or four bedrooms. All of the villas are very private and come with stunning and outdoor decks.

The villas have double thatch roofs. They’re 240m2 and come with two to four bedrooms. The living area has a wood fireplace with folding doors that open onto stunning views of the Western Cape.

The nearby Lehele Lodge bar serves gourmet cuisine. Throughout the day you’ll enjoy game drives through the bush.

The full conservation experience is a great way to discover the African Bush at Gondwana. You’ll learn about veld and wildlife management. Your base will be an eco-friendly tented bush camp. There are five large beds along with twin and double share tents located on a raised deck. Food will be served in the recreational area or outside boma. You can unwind in a hammock by the pool.

A typical day looks something like this:

  • Early breakfast
  • Morning activity – locating cheetah and monitoring the wildlife
  • Visit the conservartion project site
  • Packed lunch in the bush
  • Continue with field projects
  • Evening game drive
  • Return to camp
  • Hearty dinner and braai/potjie nights

Stay in a luxurious African villa and have your own chef, butler and field guide. The villa is located within a part of the reserve that’s full of game. There are three luxury suites overlooking the rolling mountains. All meals and drinks are included. This is the most glamorous way to experience the African bush.

African boma breakfasts are served each morning. You’ll have veranda lunch platters, boma barbecues, picnics and outdoor sundowner dining options. The food is Pan African Cuisine and the wine menu is geared toward local wines from the Cape area.
