Desa Potato Head is a beachfront creative village in Seminyak, Bali, built around design, music, and a working commitment to zero waste.
The resort grew out of the Potato Head Beach Club and now runs as a self-contained desa, the Indonesian word for village. Accommodation spans studios and suites across two buildings, the terracotta-brick AM House and the oceanfront OMA House, plus the original Katamama hotel.
Sustainability is the organizing idea, not a side note. An on-site waste lab turns used bottles into glassware and ocean plastic into furniture and room amenities, and guests can tour the operation. Several restaurants and bars, a spa, a music program, and a cinema fill out the grounds.
Days move between the infinity pools and daybeds of the Beach Club, the beach, and the wellness studio, with bars and DJ sets at sunset. The whole place faces west over the Indian Ocean.

Dining
Several venues share the desa. Kaum cooks traditional recipes from across Indonesia’s regions, while Ijen, at the heart of the Beach Club, runs a zero-waste seafood menu cooked over fire on the day’s catch. Tanaman handles plant-based cooking in a semi-subterranean space. For drinks, there is the Beach Club itself, the rooftop Sunset Park, the Akademi cocktail bar, and a jamu bar serving Indonesian tonics.
Wellness
Wellness runs through a spa and a daily program of yoga, sound baths, breathwork, and guided meditation, with a jamu bar pouring traditional herbal tonics and a gym for anyone keeping a routine. Sound treatments go beyond the usual, including a light-and-vibration session on a water bed. The Beach Club’s ocean-facing infinity pools are part of the picture too, the easiest way to slow a day down.
Location
Desa Potato Head runs along Petitenget Beach in Seminyak, on the busy west coast of Bali, facing the Indian Ocean and its sunsets. The bars, restaurants, and shops of Petitenget and Seminyak are within walking distance, with the Petitenget Temple close by. Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai International Airport is about 30 minutes away by car. As a self-contained village, though, the resort is built to keep you on-site.
