- Shares a 50-km unfenced border with Kruger National Park
- Featured lodges: Chitwa Chitwa, Lion Sands, and Londolozi
Accommodation
Chitwa Chitwa Lodge
Chitwa Chitwa combines classic African chic and modern European design. It overlooks one of the biggest lakes in Sabi Sand, a popular spot for the local wildlife. You’ll be able to relax in your lodge and watch the animals drinking from the lake.
Lion Sands Game Reserve
The Lion Sands lodges are in the only reserve that gives you access to the Sabie River. From the Lion Sands Narnia Lodge shapes like an opulent tree house to the River Lodge located on the banks of the Sabie River, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better setting for your safari. Some of the lodges come with private pools. Others are comprised of separate rooms connected by wooden walkways.
Londolozi Game Reserve
Londolozi Game Reserve is family-run and a big draw for eco-tourists. There are five luxury lodges to choose from. The Pioneer Camp is the most private and it can host up to 14 guests. Londolozi Varty Camp has ten chalets. The campfire has burned here for eight decades – it’s the symbolic heart of Londolozi Game Reserve. The aesthetic appeal of Londolozi Tree Camp is hard to beat. It has 6 luxury suites and a private plunge pool.
Further information
Dining

Dining is handled at each lodge rather than centrally, though the patterns repeat across the reserve: candlelit dinners in open-air bomas, breakfasts on riverside decks, and bush meals out among the wildlife. Chitwa Chitwa keeps an underground wine cellar built into granite, Lion Sands plates meals on decks above the Sabie River, and Londolozi runs shared dining decks shaded by leadwood trees.
Wellness

Each lodge brings its own spa. Chitwa Chitwa has a holistic spa for massages and body treatments, Lion Sands runs an Africology spa and gym beside the river, and Londolozi’s Healing House layers massage, yoga, and sound healing into a full wellness program. Across the reserve, suites come with private plunge pools, the simplest way to cool off and watch the bush between drives.
Location

The draw is the game viewing. Sabi Sands shares a 50-kilometer unfenced border with Kruger, and twice-daily drives with a ranger and tracker turn up the Big Five, with the reserve known above all for its leopards. Walking safaris cover the bush on foot. Beyond the drives, there are guided Shangaan village visits, Londolozi’s photographic studio, and the option of a Lion Sands treehouse sleep-out under the stars.
South Africa
South Africa occupies the southern tip of the African continent, bordered by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans and sharing land borders with Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Eswatini. The country spans eleven official languages and an extraordinary range of landscapes, from the winelands of the Western Cape to the bushveld of Limpopo and the dramatic coastline of the Garden Route. Most itineraries begin in Cape Town, one of the world’s great cities.
Our Experts
There's no better way to appreciate the natural world than by taking part in a South African safari. You'll have the chance to see the Big Five whilst never compromising when it comes to luxury.
The cosmopolitan hub of Cape Town is often overlooked as a fantastic travel destination. It has a palpably vibrant character and a flourishing food scene. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to experience something completely different.
Stellar service. Stellar products. Stellar people and it gets so much better when you pick up the phone and call.
