Six Senses Samui is a hilltop resort of 67 villas on the northern headland of Koh Samui, looking out over the Gulf of Thailand toward Koh Phangan.
The villas are wooden, low-key, and tucked into the vegetation across a steep hillside, in the rustic-luxe style Six Senses is known for. Of the 67, sixty have a private pool, and the range climbs from the Hideaway Villa to ocean-front pool villas and the two-bedroom Ocean Retreat.
Dining on the Rocks, the resort’s terraced cliff-face restaurant, is the headline, with Dining on the Hill and the beachfront Drift handling the everyday. A Six Senses Spa, an organic farm, and a clifftop infinity pool carry the wellness and the views.
The whole place leans private and quiet, which suits couples, gay or straight, who want a remote, romantic base rather than a party one. The northern beaches and Fisherman’s Village are close, and Samui Airport is about 15 minutes away.

Accommodation
Hideaway Villa
The Hideaway Villas are in the secluded villa category and each one comes with partial ocean views. They also come with a private deck with loungers, a dining area and a large bathroom.
Pool Villa
Located in the highest point of the resort and overlooking tropical landscapes, Pool Villas open onto a spacious deck and private swimming pool. The interior is spacious, elegant and open plan.
Ocean Pool Villa/Suite
Ocean Pool Villas offer excellent views of the Gulf Of Thailand, a private pool and spacious deck and indoor and outdoor dining areas. The bathrooms have oversized bathtubs and double vanity mirrors.
If you’re looking for extra space and luxury you can upgrade to an Ocean Front Villa Suite. The lounge area can be turned into a second bedroom if you are travelling as a family.

Dining
Dining on the Rocks is the resort’s signature, a series of terraced decks built into the cliff face, with a tasting-led menu and sunset views over the Gulf. Dining on the Hill covers the everyday, breakfast through dinner, with Thai and international plates, and Drift, down on the beach, handles relaxed lunches and grills. Much of the produce comes from the resort’s organic farm.
Wellness
Wellness is central to any Six Senses, and the spa here runs treatments around the brand’s holistic approach, backed by a daily program of yoga, Pilates, and beach sessions. A gym, sauna, and steam room cover the active side. Most villas have their own pool, and the dramatic clifftop infinity pool, with its open view of the Gulf, is the one everyone photographs. An organic farm supplies the kitchens and the spa.
Location
Six Senses holds the northern headland of Koh Samui, above Baan Plai Laem, with the villas stepping down a hillside toward the Gulf of Thailand and the island of Koh Phangan on the horizon. It is one of the quieter corners of Samui, though the beaches of Choeng Mon, Fisherman’s Village, and the Wat Plai Laem temple are all close. Samui Airport is about 15 minutes by car.
