At a glance

Call Me By Your Name made the landscapes of northern Italy almost as memorable as Elio and Oliver themselves. This tailor-made journey takes you through the real towns, piazzas and countryside that framed their story, while giving you plenty of reasons to fall for Italy beyond the film.

Begin in Milan, with its art, architecture and fashion, plus time in Porta Venezia, the heart of the city’s gay scene. From there, head into Lombardy and the locations most closely associated with the film.

Explore Bergamo, then continue through Crema, Pandino and Moscazzano, where quiet streets, historic squares and the surrounding countryside provided the backdrop to some of the movie’s most memorable scenes.

The journey continues to Bardolino and Lake Garda for wine, food and time beside the water, before moving on to Verona and finally Venice.

It is part filming-location pilgrimage, part romantic Italian vacation, and entirely customizable around you.

Aesthetes have always been drawn to Italy. See what kind of romantic sparks this gay Italian adventure ignites.

Day by day

?

This is a sample plan, not a fixed departure. Days can be added, removed or reordered, and almost every client changes something. Prices are an entry-level guide; your quote will be exact.

Day 1 and 2: Milan

Elio is surrounded by highly cultured people in the movie. They know a lot about Italian art.

Today you’ll be taken for a private tour of some of Leonardo Da Vinci’s great artworks that are found in Milan.

Your tour guide will then take you for a drink in Milan’s gay district, Porta Venezia.

Day 3: Bergamo

Bergamo provides the setting for some of the film’s most romantic final scenes, as Elio and Oliver escape together while Sufjan Stevens’ Mystery of Love plays in the background.

Explore the historic upper city, enclosed by Venetian walls, and visit recognizable locations including Piazza Duomo, Piazza Rosate and the Natural Science Museum.

You will also see the square where Elio and Oliver share one of the film’s most memorable kisses.

Day 4: Crema, Pandino & Moscazzano

Today takes you to the shores of Lake Garda and the dramatic ruins of the Grottoes of Catullus in Sirmione.

The archaeological site provided the setting for the scene in which Elio’s father supervises the recovery of an ancient statue from the water. Nearby Jamaica Beach, with its pale rocks and clear lake water, is another instantly recognizable location from the film.

Spend time exploring Sirmione itself, one of Lake Garda’s most beautiful towns, before continuing your journey around the lake.

Day 5: Bardolino & Lake Garda

This is the heart of Call Me By Your Name country.

Travel into the Lombardy countryside to Crema, the town most closely associated with Elio and Oliver’s summer together. Your guide will take you through recognizable streets and squares from the movie before continuing into nearby Pandino and Moscazzano.

You will also see Villa Albergoni, the 17th-century villa used as the Perlman family home in the film.

Lunch brings you back to another essential part of northern Italy: the food. Try local dishes before learning how to make Tortelli Cremaschi, Crema’s distinctive filled pasta.

Day 6: Bardolino & Desenzano

Spend a slower day beside Lake Garda, beginning in Desenzano del Garda with time to walk along the waterfront, explore the old town or take to the lake by boat.

Later, head into the surrounding wine country for a tasting and lunch. This is a chance to experience the landscape beyond the filming locations, with vineyards, lake views and the kind of long Italian lunch that deserves an afternoon of its own.

Day 7: Bardolino & Verona

Continue to Verona, one of Italy’s great romantic cities.

Explore the historic center and the places associated with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, including Juliet’s famous balcony.

Verona also has connections to the Roman poet Catullus, whose writing about love and desire gives the city a rather more ancient claim to romance.

From here, continue east toward Venice for the final chapter of the trip.

Day 8: Venice

Finish in Venice, a city that hardly needs help in the romance department.

Spend your final day among palaces, canals and hidden streets, with time to explore at your own pace. Venice has been associated with art, pleasure and decadence for centuries, making it a suitably cinematic ending to a journey inspired by Call Me By Your Name.

The following day, it is time to leave Italy with plenty of memories of Elio and Oliver, and hopefully a few stories of your own.
