Argentina’s biggest landscapes are the focus of this 11-day journey, taking you from Buenos Aires to the glaciers of southern Patagonia, the lakes and mountains around Bariloche and finally the subtropical rainforest of Iguazu.
Begin in Buenos Aires, where broad avenues, historic neighborhoods and tango culture give the trip an urban opening before you fly south to El Calafate.
From here, explore Los Glaciares National Park and see Perito Moreno, one of Patagonia’s most dramatic glaciers, from the water and surrounding viewpoints.
The journey then shifts north to Bariloche, in Argentina’s Lake District.
Surrounded by Nahuel Huapi National Park, the town is a base for alpine scenery, forest, lakes and outdoor experiences. Spend your time hiking, horseback riding or rafting, or simply take in the views from the mountains around the city. In winter, Cerro Catedral adds one of South America’s best-known ski areas.
Finish at Iguazu Falls, where the landscape changes completely again. Dense rainforest replaces the open spaces of Patagonia, and the falls are best appreciated over two days, giving time for both close-up views and the wider panorama.
This is the Argentina itinerary for travelers who want the country’s natural landscapes front and center, with Buenos Aires adding culture and energy between the wilderness regions.

Day 1: Buenos Aires
When you arrive at the airport you’ll be transferred to your hotel in central Buenos Aires. Evening at leisure.
Day 2: Buenos Aires
Set out on a city tour of Recoleta and La Boca. Take a trip to Plaza de Mayo, the central square of the city. In many ways, this is the heart of the city. It’s where the revolution of 1810 began that led to Argentina’s independence from Spain.
If you’d like to see one of the major Latin American art galleries, you should head to Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes.
In the evening, enjoy a three-course meal at El Aljibe with a tango show, a tour guide and private transfers.
Day 3 And 4: El Calafate
Fly south to El Calafate, the main gateway to Los Glaciares National Park.
The highlight here is Perito Moreno Glacier. Explore the glacier from the network of walkways and viewpoints, then see it from the water on a private or small-group boat excursion for a different sense of its scale.
A second day can be used to explore more of the surrounding national park, with options including glacier cruises, estancia visits or a slower day in El Calafate.
Day 5: El Calafate
Enjoy a free day in El Calafate.
You can spend more time among the glaciers on an optional sightseeing cruise, or choose something completely different with a visit to La Leona Petrified Forest.
Day 6 And 7: Bariloche
Fly north to Bariloche in Río Negro province and transfer to your hotel.
The following morning, explore Bariloche with a guide. The setting is the real draw here: lakes, mountains and forest give this part of Patagonia a very different character from El Calafate, and it is particularly well suited to travelers who want to spend time outdoors.
Day 8: Bariloche
Choose how active you want the day to be.
Options include white-water rafting, horseback riding or hiking. In ski season, Cerro Catedral adds another side to Bariloche, with an extensive network of ski trails in the mountains above the city.
Day 9 And 10: Iguazu
Fly to Iguazu and transfer to your hotel.
The following day, explore Iguazu Falls with a local guide. Straddling the Argentine and Brazilian border, the falls form one of the world’s largest waterfall systems, with rainforest, spray and a succession of viewpoints making this one of the most dramatic finales to an Argentina journey.
Day 11: Departure
For your return journey, you’ll transfer to Sao Paulo airport. On the way you’ll be able to visit the Brazillian side of Iguazu before getting your return flight.
