This eight-day itinerary moves through Malta and Gozo at an unhurried pace, built around five-star waterfront stays, private guiding, and a mix of the islands’ ancient history and quieter coastline.

It begins in Valletta, Malta’s baroque capital, a city small enough to walk end to end but dense with centuries of layered history in every street.

A private guide leads the way through it, before dinner in a 19th-century palace that’s kept much of its original character.

From there, the route moves inland to Mdina and Rabat, Malta’s former capital and its neighboring town, where Roman-era ruins and catacombs sit beneath streets quiet enough to still feel medieval.

The trip then crosses to Gozo, greener and slower-paced than the main island. Days here move between the Ġgantija temples, predating both Stonehenge and the pyramids, wine tastings in candlelit cellars carved into the island’s rock, and a private yacht trip through Gozo’s sea caves.

Between clifftop walks and a swim at the Blue Hole, this leg shows a wilder side of Malta than Valletta’s baroque streets suggest.

Malta also carries a reputation as one of Europe’s most LGBTQ+-friendly destinations, with marriage equality in place since 2017 and among the strongest legal protections in the region.

Day 1: Arrival and Dinner at Palazzo Parisio

On arrival in Malta, a private assistant meets you for the transfer to Iniala Harbour House in Valletta. The Seaview Suite looks directly onto the Grand Harbour, a fitting introduction to a city built almost entirely around its waterfront.

After settling in, a private driver takes you a short distance inland to Naxxar for dinner at Palazzo Parisio, a 19th-century palace often described as Malta’s own miniature Versailles. Dinner is served at Luna Restaurant, the palace’s dining room, beneath gilded ceilings and frescoed walls that have changed little since the Marquis Scicluna renovated the building at the turn of the century. Afterward, the drive back to Valletta closes out the evening, with the city’s illuminated bastions visible long before you arrive.

Day 1: Arrival and Dinner at Palazzo Parisio

Day 2: Valletta’s Grand Heritage

After breakfast, meet your guide at Iniala Harbour House for a walking tour of Valletta. Explore the historic City Gate, Triton Fountain, and Republic Street, visiting the Manoel Theatre and St John’s Co-Cathedral, masterpieces of Baroque design. Continue to the Grandmaster’s Palace and its Armory collection, followed by the National Museum of Archaeology and National Library. Your guide brings to life stories of knights, artists, and the city’s noble past. After your tour, return to your hotel to unwind or explore the capital further at your own pace.

Day 2: Valletta’s Grand Heritage

Day 3: Mdina and Rabat Discovery

The morning transfer brings you to Mdina, Malta’s former capital, where a guide leads a walking tour through streets still enclosed by their original fortified walls. The city has changed little in centuries: a Baroque cathedral, a cluster of noble palaces, and streets quiet enough that Mdina has long been nicknamed the Silent City.

From there, the tour continues into neighboring Rabat, to St. Paul’s Grotto, the cave where tradition holds the apostle sheltered after being shipwrecked on Malta’s coast, and the Basilica of St. Paul nearby. The rest of the day moves at a slower pace through Malta’s central villages, before returning to Mdina for the night at The Xara Palace, a Relais & Châteaux property built into the city’s fortified walls, small enough to feel like a private residence rather than a hotel.

Day 3: Mdina and Rabat Discovery

Day 4: Ancient Temples and Coastal Cliffs

Set off to explore the UNESCO-listed temples of Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra, among the oldest religious sites in the world. Marvel at their limestone structures perched above the sea, aligned to the solstices. Then, head to Dingli Cliffs, the highest point in Malta, for dramatic views over terraced fields and the island of Filfla. Your private guide will reveal fascinating layers of Malta’s ancient past. After your tour, return to The Xara Palace in Mdina, where your private terrace and jacuzzi offer the perfect place to unwind.

Day 4: Ancient Temples and Coastal Cliffs

Day 5: Culinary Journey in Gozo

The private driver takes you north to catch the ferry across to Gozo. On arrival, check in at Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz, set among the island’s countryside rather than along its coast, a quieter base for the days ahead.

In the evening, a private transfer brings you into Victoria for dinner at a restaurant built into a centuries-old stone cellar. The meal pairs an eight-wine tasting from Gozitan wineries with a seasonal four-course dinner built entirely around local produce, one of the clearest ways to taste what this island actually grows and makes rather than what’s shipped in for tourists. The evening closes back at the hotel, in the Junior Suite.

Day 5: Culinary Journey in Gozo

Day 6: Wonders of Gozo

A private guide leads a full day through Gozo’s older history and landscape, starting at the Ġgantija Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site older than the pyramids, followed by the nearby Ta’ Kola Windmill. From Nadur, the island opens up into wide views across the coast, before a stop at Calypso’s Cave, long associated with the Ogygia of Homer’s Odyssey, and Xerri’s Grotto, a small natural cave beneath a family home in Xagħra.

The afternoon continues to the salt pans on Gozo’s northern coast, still worked much as they have been for generations, and, weather permitting, a boat trip through Dwejra Bay’s sea caves. The day closes at the Citadel in Victoria, Gozo’s fortified old town, before returning to Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz for the night.

Day 6: Wonders of Gozo

Day 7: Private Yacht Cruise

After breakfast at Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz, a transfer takes you to the marina to board a private yacht for the day. With the skipper setting the route, the boat calls at Mgarr ix-Xini and Xlendi, two of Gozo’s quieter bays, for swimming at Dwejra and a gourmet picnic on deck, with prosecco to go with it.

Later, the yacht continues to Comino’s Blue Lagoon and the Crystal Lagoon Caves, both only reachable by boat, and among the clearest water in the Maltese islands. The day ends back at the marina, with a transfer to the hotel for a final night on Gozo.

Day 7: Private Yacht Cruise

Day 8: Departure

This morning, check out of your suite at Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz and meet your private driver for your transfer back to Malta. Cross by ferry and continue to Malta International Airport for your departing flight.
