This twelve-day itinerary moves between two regions that show different sides of the country: the Mamanuca Islands, all lagoon and white sand, and Taveuni, known across Fiji as the Garden Island for its waterfalls, rainforest, and reef. Rather than choosing one, this itinerary gives each region enough time to be more than a stop along the way.

The twelve days move from arrival and settling into the Mamanucas, through beach time and a cultural outing, across to Taveuni for diving and waterfalls, and close with two days for the journey home. Your specialist builds the specific resorts and pacing around you once you inquire.
Fiji's constitution has explicitly protected LGBTQ+ people from discrimination since 2013, one of the first countries in the world to write that protection into law. Inside the resorts we work with, that welcome is consistent regardless of which region you are in. Away from the resorts, Fijian communities remain more traditional, and the same discretion most travelers already extend elsewhere applies here too.
Day by day
This is a sample plan, not a fixed departure. Days can be added, removed or reordered, and almost every client changes something. Prices are an entry-level guide; your quote will be exact.
Days 1-2: The Journey Begins
Your journey begins with the international flight to Nadi, Fiji.
There is little to do on these two days beyond adjusting to the time change and looking ahead to the pace the rest of the trip will settle into.
Many travelers break up the flight with a stopover city along the way, though a direct routing works equally well depending on where you are departing from.
Day 3: Arrival in the Mamanucas
You transfer by boat to the Mamanuca Islands and check into your resort, with the rest of the day left open.
Most travelers spend the afternoon by the water, unpacking slowly and taking a first look at the lagoon before anything is scheduled.
Dinner on this first night tends to stay close to the resort while everyone adjusts to island time.
Day 4: Beachfront Bliss in the Mamanucas
This day is built around the lagoon itself: snorkeling straight from the shore, paddleboarding, or simply staying close to the water.
Evenings in the Mamanucas are unhurried, with dinner often served outdoors, close enough to hear the water.
Day 5: Cultural Outings
Fiji’s beauty resides not just in its landscapes but also in the warmth of its people.
One day in the Mamanucas is set aside for a genuine visit to a nearby community, arranged directly through your resort rather than staged as a show for passing visitors.
You might join a cooking demonstration, a weaving session, or simply spend time talking with people who live on the island year-round.
Day 6: Last Day in the Mamanucas
Your final day in the Mamanucas is left open for whatever has not yet been done: a second snorkel outing, a spa afternoon, or simply more time on the beach.
Many travelers use this day to slow down further rather than add anything new, since Taveuni’s pace the next day is markedly different from the lagoon days behind you.
Day 7: From Island to Island - Onwards to Taveuni
You travel from the Mamanucas to Taveuni, known across Fiji as the Garden Island for its waterfalls and dense rainforest.
The transfer takes most of the day, by boat and by air, and the change in landscape is immediate: white sand gives way to green hillsides and running water almost as soon as you arrive.
Day 8: Dive into the Deep Blue
Taveuni sits beside some of Fiji’s most respected diving, and this day is built around exploring it: a two-tank dive for certified divers or snorkeling the same reef for those who are not.
The soft coral here is considered among the best in the country, and dive operators on this side of Fiji know the sites well.
Day 9: Adventure or Rest, The Choice is Yours
This day has no fixed plan. Spend it hiking into the rainforest, taking a second dive, or staying at the resort entirely.
Taveuni rewards travelers who are comfortable deciding day to day rather than following a set schedule, and this is the day built specifically for that.
Day 10: Bouma Falls
You spend the day at Bouma National Heritage Park, home to a series of waterfalls connected by rainforest trails.
The first and most accessible falls suit most fitness levels; the second and third require a longer walk and reward it with a quieter setting.
Many travelers swim at the base of at least one waterfall before heading back.
Days 11-12: Return Home
Your last two days are for the journey home: a final morning in Taveuni if your flight schedule allows it, followed by the transfer back to Nadi and your international flight.
What stays with most travelers from this itinerary is the contrast between the two regions, the openness of the Mamanucas against the density of Taveuni’s rainforest, two different registers of the same country.
