France is one of the great honeymoon countries. The combination of Paris and the Côte d’Azur covers almost everything a honeymoon should be: a world-class city with great restaurants and hotels, followed by four nights on a coastline where the only real agenda is where to have lunch. Seven nights, two regions, one TGV connection. It is not a complicated itinerary, which is the point.
Paris needs no hard sell. Three nights in the Marais gives you the Louvre, the bistros, the tasting menus, and the gay scene.
The 1st, 3rd, and 4th arrondissements have more good restaurants, bars, and things to look at per square mile than almost anywhere on earth.
From Paris, the TGV south takes three hours and deposits you in a completely different France. The Côte d’Azur runs from Nice along a coastline of fishing villages, clifftop roads, and beach clubs that have been drawing the glamorous and the well-heeled since the 19th century.
Nice is your base: walkable, beautiful, and well-connected enough to reach Saint-Tropez and Èze without drama. The light here is genuinely different, and so is the pace.
France has been one of Europe’s most welcoming destinations for LGBTQ+ travelers for decades. Same-sex marriage has been legal since 2013, and attitudes in both Paris and the major Riviera towns are relaxed and inclusive without making a performance of it.
The Marais remains the spiritual home of gay Paris, with a concentration of bars, restaurants, and cultural spaces that have no real equivalent elsewhere in the country. On the coast, Saint-Tropez and Nice both have established gay scenes and beaches where same-sex couples will feel completely at ease.

Day 1: Arrival
Land at Charles de Gaulle and head straight to the Marais, your base for the next three nights and the historic heart of LGBTQ+ Paris. Check in, drop your bags, and keep it simple tonight. The neighborhood has everything you need within walking distance: a good wine bar, a better bistro, and streets worth wandering after dark.
Day 2: The Marais
The Louvre before 10am, before the tour groups arrive. Cross the river for lunch in Saint-Germain, then spend the afternoon back in the Marais around Place des Vosges. By evening the neighborhood shifts gear: cocktails at Open Café on Rue des Archives, dinner at one of the modern French bistros the arrondissement does so well.
Day 3: Paris at Its Best
Keep the day open. The Musée d’Orsay, a walk up through Montmartre, a long lunch that continues into the afternoon. Tonight is the splurge: a tasting menu at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Book ahead, dress up, order the wine pairing. This is the meal you will talk about for years.
Day 4: Paris to Nice
Breakfast in the Marais, then a cab to Gare de Lyon for the TGV south. Three hours later the architecture softens, the light changes, and the palm trees start. Nice Ville station puts you ten minutes from the old port.
Check in, then walk the Promenade des Anglais before sunset. Dinner in Vieux-Nice at a restaurant serving socca and fresh pasta.
Day 5: Nice and Èze
Morning at the Cours Saleya flower market, coffee, a slow loop of the old town’s baroque churches and ochre-painted streets. After lunch, head up to Èze, a medieval village on the corniche with views across to Monaco.
Walk the exotic garden at the summit and stay until the late afternoon light does what it does on the French Riviera. Back to Nice for dinner on the port.
Day 6: Saint-Tropez
Early start by boat or car to Saint-Tropez. An hour in the old harbor, then straight to Pampelonne Beach, which has a long-established gay-friendly stretch of sand and the right amount of energy for a honeymoon day out. Lunch at a beach club, an afternoon in the water, then the return along the coast as evening comes in. Dinner somewhere with a terrace.
Day 7: Saint-Tropez
Early start by boat or car to Saint-Tropez. An hour in the old harbor, then straight to Pampelonne Beach, which has a long-established gay-friendly stretch of sand and the right amount of energy for a honeymoon day out. Lunch at a beach club, an afternoon in the water, then the return along the coast as evening comes in. Dinner somewhere with a terrace and excellent people watching opportunities.
Day 8: Departure
Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is 20 minutes from the city center. Enjoy a final coffee on the Promenade before your driver collects you and takes you to the airport.
