This itinerary is built around the highest tier of accommodation French Polynesia has to offer, and around the freedom to move between islands without waiting on ferry schedules.
Private planes and helicopters cover the inter-island transfers, which on an itinerary spanning several atolls saves real time otherwise lost to inter-island logistics.
The islands themselves remain the point. Lagoons here rank among the clearest in the Pacific, and the coral reefs surrounding them support a density of marine life that draws divers back to French Polynesia over almost anywhere else in the world.
The resorts on this route are chosen for what they do that others cannot: a floating breakfast served in your own overwater lagoon, dinner arranged on a private islet reachable only by boat, an evening sail by catamaran timed to end at sunset.

Days 1-5: Tetiaroa
When Marlon Brando secured a 99-year lease on Tetiaroa in the 1960s, he intended it as a private retreat and conservation area. He is unlikely to have anticipated that, decades later, the resort bearing his name would be named the world’s best by Condé Nast. The island’s original purpose has held regardless: Tetiaroa remains a sanctuary for endangered species, and today supports the largest population of green sea turtles in the Islands of Tahiti.
Reachable only by private air transfer, The Brando’s degree of privacy is well documented. In 2017, the island hosted outgoing US President Barack Obama for a month, during which he wrote much of his memoir in the seclusion of one of Tetiaroa’s beachside villas. Few resorts anywhere offer that level of discretion as standard.
Days 5-8: Raiatea and Mo'orea
A private helicopter transfer to Raiatea marks the start of a three-night stay aboard a private catamaran, crewed throughout by a skipper and onboard chef. The boat arrives pre-stocked to your preferences, with a range of water toys on board and provisions for meals cooked and served on deck rather than in a restaurant.
Small enough to reach coves and bays inaccessible to larger vessels, the catamaran opens up stretches of Raiatea, Mo’orea, and Tahiti’s coastline that most visitors never see: uninhabited inlets, shallow lagoons, and anchorages with no other boats in sight. The route each day is set by you and the skipper together, rather than fixed in advance.
Days 8-11: Bora Bora
The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort
The St. Regis combines secluded beach villas with the South Pacific’s largest overwater bungalows, each with round-the-clock butler service. Its private Lagoonarium doubles as a working marine conservation site, giving guests access to guided snorkeling among species the resort actively protects rather than simply displays.
The Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora
Set against Mount Otemanu, the Four Seasons offers a choice between overwater villas and a beachfront estate with its own private beach and dedicated host. The lagoon fronting the property supports a dense reef ecosystem, and the spa draws on Kahaia trees native to the island for its treatments.
At either hotel, a private helicopter transfer back to Tahiti closes out the trip.
