At a glance
A 5-star complex of restored 18th- and 19th-century residences in the most serene part of Fira, with caldera views, plunge pools, and a member of Historic Hotels of Europe.
Aigialos Luxury Traditional Settlement occupies a cluster of historic Cycladic and neoclassical buildings in Fira, meticulously reconstructed while preserving the domed ceilings, hand-carved details, and stone paths that define the island’s architectural heritage. Each residence is named after one of the ancient Greek wind gods, the Anemoi.
Rooms and suites range from 28 to 72 square meters, with marble floors, antique furnishings, and private or shared terraces positioned for uninterrupted views of the volcano, caldera, and Aegean horizon. Breakfast is served on your terrace or poolside, with homemade bread, pies, and à la minute egg dishes.
Room service and wine pairings are designed for relaxed caldera-view dining. Oia, Akrotiri, the island’s celebrated Assyrtiko wineries, and Fira’s main square are all within easy reach.

Highlights
- 18th and 19th-century residences with private terraces and direct caldera and volcano views
- Suites from 28 to 72sqm with marble floors, antique furnishings, and neoclassical Cycladic design
- Member of Historic Hotels of Europe, set 450m from Fira’s main square
Accommodation
Volcano & Sea View Suites
Positioned on the caldera front, these suites deliver direct, unobstructed views of Santorini’s active volcano and the sweep of the Aegean below. Named after the ancient Greek wind gods, the Anemoi, interiors combine marble floors with antique furnishings and traditional domed architecture. Private terraces make them a strong choice for guests who want the view front and center.
Panoramic Sunset Suites
Oriented to capture Santorini’s famous sunsets across the full width of the caldera and sea, these suites offer some of the widest views in the property. Cycladic domed ceilings, hand-carved details, and antique furnishings sit alongside modern comforts, while private terraces provide the natural setting for evening room service and local wine pairings as the light fades.
Mansion Sunset Suite
The largest accommodation at Aigialos, the Mansion Sunset Suite spreads across 72 square meters with two bathrooms and caldera-facing sunset views. The heritage architecture is at its most expressive here, with original neoclassical detailing, marble floors, and antique furnishings reflecting the building’s 18th and 19th-century roots. Well suited to couples traveling together or guests wanting serious space.
Superior Residences
The most characterful entry point into Aigialos, the Superior Residences lean into traditional cave-style Cycladic architecture, with the domed ceilings and carved stone details that define the settlement’s historic fabric. Compact but considered at 39 square meters, they offer the full Aigialos aesthetic: antique furnishings, marble floors, and terrace access, at the most accessible rate on the property.

Dining

Breakfast is served on your private terrace or poolside, with homemade bread, pies, fresh fruit, and à la minute egg dishes. All-day dining leans into Greek and Mediterranean simplicity: fresh salads, mezedes, traditional specialties, and desserts built around Santorinian tomatoes, capers, and cheeses from Santorini and Crete. Room service runs throughout the day, with curated Assyrtiko wine and cheese pairings timed for the caldera sunset a particular highlight.
History

Originally the home of a prominent Santorinian sea captain family, Aigialos was restored in 2000 by descendants Koula Tsouni and her brother, Ambassador Tsounis. Master masons rebuilt the property using local volcanic stone, Greek marbles, and colored lime plaster, preserving the traditional way of life of the island’s nobility. Accepted into Historic Hotels of Europe in 2005, it has collected awards for style, service, and cuisine ever since.
Greece
Greece sits at the southeastern tip of Europe, on the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts. The country covers a small mainland and around 6,000 islands, 200 of which are inhabited. The main island groups are the Cyclades (Mykonos, Santorini, Paros, and Naxos), the Ionian (Corfu, Kefalonia, and Zakynthos), and the Dodecanese (Rhodes, Symi), and Crete, which is large enough to be a destination on its own.
Our Experts
Santorini is simply gorgeous. It's perfect for romance, with its whitewashed buildings, blue-domed churches and stunning sea views.
I always recommend Santorini to those who want the quintessential Greek Isle experience. Those views at sunset have to be seen to be believed.
