Ibiza: Where’s en vogue this summer?

The white isle just keeps getting better and better

Slowly, quietly, gradually, Ibiza's reputation has been changing. Of course, it's still ultimately the party island. Beaches are strewn with recuperating hordes of people just trying to get the ringing in their ears to stop from the night before. The nightlife that results in this will always be celebrated, but the rest of Ibiza should be appreciated too. Take a look below for some of the popular places and events as well as a few different suggestions.

Nightlife

Only a fifteen minute drive from Ibiza Town is the Experimental Beach Club in Playa des Codolar Salinas. Literally on the sand, this place is perfect both day and night. It's stylish, with fairy lights overhead and the most innovative cocktails. Fruity, spicy, sweet, sour; whatever you can think of. Before you have that third drink, you might even want to participate in a yoga class.

On the southwest side of the island stands Blue Marlin, which can cater to your needs at any time of day. Plenty of beds are ready to be claimed on the beach, or you can sit at a table to enjoy the venue's Mediterranean dishes. In the evenings as the sun goes down, the strobe lights come on and you can party until 4am.

Matinee is a club night catered to the LGBT market but is a night enjoyed by all. Its vibrant stage shows are mesmerising and Paris Hilton is a regular there hosting her Foam and Diamonds party. The theme of Matinee changes annually, so be sure to research to dress in the perfect attire. A lot of locals join in on this night as it takes place on Saturdays. The music is less cheese and more underground house and remixes, so if you're someone who loves screeching to the high notes of pop, be aware Matinee might not be your night.

Leo in Ibiza Town is a cabaret venue that loves to put on a show, from its much adored food to its flawless performers. The stage isn't the only tantalising view; if you turn around in your seat you'll see boats lighting up the marina as they pull in at dusk. Lío comes with guaranteed pizzazz.

Boating

Take a trip to Formentera which is Ibiza's smaller, quieter neighbor, so it makes the perfect break from the latter's hectic adventures. It's a beautiful island, with pristine waters surrounding the long ribbons of beach. Water sports are popular, from sailing to jet skiing – or you can opt for snorkelling if you prefer a slower pace. Es Cap de Barbaria Lighthouse is Formentera's perfect photo opportunity – get there in time for spectacular views of the sunset.

Party Boat or Charter?

If you're heading to Ibiza as part of a group, a boat charter may appeal to you more than the boat parties themselves. It's personal choice; being alongside a crowd of partygoers dancing the day and night away may be perfect for you, or you may prefer food and drinks with your friends while you see the island fade into the distance.

Markets

The Las Dalias Saturday Market (or 'Hippy Market') is a mixture of buying, selling, food, drink and live music as people wander round the endless stalls.

Beaches

Playa Es Cavallet is a popular gay beach and isn't averse to nudity. There are plenty of sunbeds here, but make sure to arrive early to avoid the midday rush of sunbathers.

Aguas Blancas beach is a little more hidden, requiring beachgoers to walk down steep steps from the cliffs above. It's popular with nudists and Ibiza's residents. The red mud from the cliffs is regularly slapped on by anyone who fancies an all body cleanse.
