Day 1: Arrival in Dubrovnik
Arrive into Dubrovnik and check into The Pucic Palace, on Gundulić Square in the heart of the Old Town.
After settling in, spend the evening simply walking the city as it looks today, without a guide, before the filming-location detail begins in earnest tomorrow.
A short stroll from the hotel brings you to the Jesuit Stairs, the setting for Cersei Lannister’s naked Walk of Shame through King’s Landing in Season 5, and a fitting first glimpse of what the next two days have in store.
Day 2: King's Landing Walking Tour
The day is dedicated entirely to King’s Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms throughout the series.
Beginning at Pile Gate, the site of the King’s Landing riot in Season 2 where a mob nearly kills Sansa Stark, a private guide leads through the Old Town’s key locations: Fort Lovrijenac, just outside the western wall, which stood in for the Red Keep during the Battle of Blackwater Bay in Season 2, and Minčeta Tower along the city walls, transformed into the House of the Undying that Daenerys enters in Season 2.
The tour closes at the Rector’s Palace, used for interior scenes set in the city of Qarth.
Day 3: Lokrum Island & Trsteno Arboretum
A short ferry crossing delivers you to Lokrum Island, just off the Dubrovnik coast, where the gardens and rocky coastline stood in for Qarth’s exteriors, including the Season 2 scenes of Daenerys and her khalasar arriving in the city.
The island’s visitor center now houses the original Iron Throne prop from the show, alongside the ruins of a Benedictine monastery and botanical gardens well worth exploring in their own right.
In the afternoon, a scenic drive to Trsteno Arboretum reveals the King’s Landing palace gardens, seen in Season 3 when Sansa Stark reveals Joffrey’s plot against her brother Robb to Lord Varys.
Day 4: Dubrovnik to Plitvice Lakes
A private transfer heads north to Plitvice Lakes, Croatia’s oldest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in its own right.
Although not a filming location itself, the park’s cascading lakes and dense forest capture the kind of untouched wilderness the show’s Essos scenes were often built around.
The drive marks a genuine change of register, leaving the coast for forested hills and karst limestone, arriving in time to settle in and take a first, easy walk along the lower lakes before dinner.
Day 5: Plitvice Lakes National Park
A full day is set aside to explore the park properly.
Wooden footbridges wind across a chain of sixteen turquoise lakes connected by cascading waterfalls, with routes ranging from the main circuit through the Lower and Upper Lakes to quieter detours into the surrounding forest trails, at whatever pace suits.
Day 6: Plitvice Lakes to Split — Meereen
The journey continues south to Split, where Diocletian’s Palace, a Roman ruin dating to the 4th century, became Meereen, the largest of the Slaver’s Bay cities Daenerys conquers in Season 4.
A guided tour through the palace’s excavated cellars, closed off and forgotten for centuries before their 1950s excavation, reveals where Daenerys’s dragon dungeons were filmed, along with the throne room set where the freed slaves of Meereen pledge their allegiance to her in Season 4.
Day 7: Klis Fortress & Žrnovnica
A short drive to Klis Fortress, twenty minutes north of the city, offers the vantage point used for Meereen’s exterior shots, along with genuinely dramatic views over the surrounding countryside in their own right.
A stop at nearby Žrnovnica, used for additional Essos scenes throughout the show, rounds out the day’s filming-location detail before returning to Split for the evening.
