Sweden in summer is a country of long light and open water. This eight-day route runs from Stockholm, a city spread across fourteen islands, out to the archipelago, then south to medieval Gotland and the artists’ coast of Österlen.
You start in the capital, with its waterfront restaurants and the cobbled lanes of Gamla Stan, then board a private boat into the Stockholm Archipelago: 30,000 islands of pine, granite and swimming coves.
From there it is a short flight to Gotland, where intact medieval walls still ring the town of Visby and the countryside opens into farmland, sheep pastures and limestone churches.
The trip ends in Österlen, the southeastern corner of Skåne that has drawn Swedish painters for a century, known for its apple orchards, white-sand beaches and slow village pace.
Expect spa days and farm dinners, cycling and sea swims, and fika in the late afternoon sun.

Day 1: Arrival in Stockholm
A private car meets you at the airport and brings you to your hotel in the city center. Settle in, then spend the afternoon walking Gamla Stan, the old town, where ochre buildings lean over lanes barely wide enough for two.
Dinner is by the water, with a first round of Swedish classics: cured herring, fresh bread, new potatoes and aquavit. Stockholm in summer stays light well past ten, so there is no rush to call it a night.
Day 2: Stockholm Archipelago - Island Hopping Luxury
A private boat carries you out into the archipelago, the broad scatter of islands that fans east from the city into the Baltic. You stop to swim from smooth granite, eat a packed lunch on a quiet island, and call at Vaxholm, the old garrison town guarding the main channel, with its 19th-century fortress out in the water.
Dinner is at a harborside restaurant, the kind that serves whatever the local boats landed that morning.
Day 3: Gotland - Medieval Charm & Coastal Bliss
A short flight brings you to Gotland, the large Baltic island Sweden treats as its summer escape. Visby, the main town, is a UNESCO site: a near-complete medieval wall rings a tangle of cobbled streets, rose-covered cottages and the ruins of its many old churches.
Walk the ramparts, look in at the Gotland Museum for its Viking silver and picture stones, then have dinner in a vaulted cellar lit by candles.
Day 4: Gotland Countryside - Rural Luxury Retreat
Drive out from town to a countryside retreat among Gotland’s farmland and sheep pastures. The day is yours to slow down: a spa treatment, a yoga session, long meals built around island produce and lamb.
In the afternoon, visit a working farm to see how the island grows and grazes, or take a slower route through the fields by horse and carriage.
Day 5: Österlen - Coastal Beauty
Make your way south to Österlen, the corner of Skåne where southern Sweden meets the sea. Painters and potters have worked here for generations, and their galleries and studios are scattered through the orchards and fishing villages. Browse the markets, look in at a workshop or two, and stop for lunch at a café near the shore. As the light drops low and gold in the evening, dinner is set with a view across the water.
Day 6: Österlen Countryside
Today moves at cycling pace. Ride out through beech woods and rapeseed fields to the long, near-empty sands at Sandhammaren, stopping at roadside farm stalls for cheese, smoked fish and just-picked fruit.
In the afternoon, settle in for fika somewhere unhurried: strong coffee and a cardamom bun, the Swedish ritual that turns a coffee break into the point of the day.
Day 7: Return to Stockholm
Travel back to Stockholm for a final day on your own terms. Browse the design shops and department stores around Norrmalm, book a spa afternoon, or take the ferry over to Djurgården and walk it off among the museums and parkland.
For your last dinner, a table at one of the city’s Michelin-starred kitchens.
Day 8: Return Home
A private transfer takes you to the airport for your flight home.
