Ride the UNESCO-listed railway from Chur to Tirano over the Landwasser Viaduct and the Brusio spiral, with your family together.
Over the Alps to Italy

Linking Chur, in eastern Switzerland, with Tirano across the Italian border, the Bernina Express tops out at 2,253 meters at Ospizio Bernina. The line belongs to the Rhaetian Railway’s UNESCO-listed network, and on the way you roll over the soaring Landwasser Viaduct, loop around the corkscrew viaduct at Brusio and skirt two high lakes, Lej Nair and Lago Bianco.
Big Windows, Easy Pace

Tall windows run the length of every carriage, so you see the mountains without changing seats. The train runs all year, its character shifting with the seasons, white summits in winter, lush valleys in summer, and it’s relaxed from start to finish, with no climbing or physical effort involved, so it’s easy for all ages, from young children to grandparents.

A private carriage keeps your group together the whole way, seated around your family rather than beside strangers. You can plan the day around the children, with breaks and timings built in rather than tied to a public timetable, and catering arranged ahead so meals come when they suit you. Photo stops at the Brusio viaduct and Ospizio Bernina fit in without holding up other passengers, and your luggage travels with you instead of being managed at each change. It’s a joyful day for families of every shape, including LGBTQ+ parents with children.
Planning the Journey

Your Out Of Office LGBTQ+ travel specialist can arrange the private carriage, catering and connections at either end, perhaps pairing it with a stay in the Engadin or on to Lake Como from Tirano, and our Switzerland guide covers LGBTQ+ rights and travel advice.
The hard part is not finding a beautiful place. It is finding the right one for you.

Private Tastings in the Lavaux Vineyards above Lake Geneva
A Thousand Years of Terraces Along Lake Geneva's northern shore, the Lavaux terraces cover 830 hectares, the largest continuous wine region in Switzerland. Over ten thousand terraces, each held up by dry-stone walls, step up the hillside; monks of the Cistercian and Benedictine orders built some of them 900 years ago. UNESCO listed the region in 2007, and it's still planted mostly with Chasselas, a white grape that thrives on these steep, sunny slopes.
