Barceló Coconut Island sits on Ko Maphrao, known locally as Coconut Island, a short water taxi ride off the east coast of Phuket.
The resort is all-inclusive, with suites and private pool villas renovated to a contemporary finish, many looking directly out over Phang Nga Bay. Accommodation runs from Jacuzzi Suites with private terrace hot tubs to beachfront pool villas, the largest sitting directly on the sand with unobstructed views across the bay.
The island is what sets it apart from the mainland resorts. Ko Maphrao has 500 meters of private beachfront and the kind of privacy that is hard to find in Phuket, with a free water taxi reaching the Laem Hin pier in around seven minutes and the airport around 50 minutes from there.
Three pools with waterslides, Kahtor Spa, two tennis courts, kayaking, Muay Thai coaching and an evening BBQ on the beach give the week a shape without feeling scheduled. All meals and drinks are included across three restaurants and several bars.

Accommodation
Jacuzzi Suite
The Jacuzzi Suites combine modern design with natural materials throughout. Each has a private terrace with an outdoor jacuzzi set in a tropical garden, a spacious bedroom and bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower options.
They work well for couples looking for privacy without the footprint of a full villa.
Pool Villa
The pool villas range from one to three bedrooms and are the main accommodation category at the resort. Each has a private outdoor pool, a living and dining area and direct access to the garden or beach depending on position.
The larger two and three-bedroom configurations work for groups or families as well as couples.
Grand Beach Front Villa
The Grand Beachfront Villas sit directly on the beach with private pool access and sea views across Phang Nga Bay.
At the top of the accommodation range, these are the right choice for those wanting maximum space and the closest possible position to the water.

Food & Drink
Kabang
The Thai restaurant and bar sits on the beach, with the bay in front and the island behind. Traditional Thai dishes and a full drinks list, included in the rate.
Koko
Japanese and Asian fusion with views over Phang Nga Bay. Sushi, sashimi and wider Asian cooking, with drinks included.
Laku Beach Club
The all-day venue for those who want a livelier atmosphere, running food and drinks from morning through to the evening alongside the poolside and beach bars.
Spa & Wellness
Kahtor Spa offers traditional Thai massage, body wraps, facials and aromatherapy treatments. The spa also has a steam room, a hydrotherapy pool and a sauna.
Yoga classes, Muay Thai coaching and a fully equipped gym are available for those wanting more activity alongside the beach and pool days.
