The Bahamas is welcoming at the resort level and more conservative beyond it, so it suits same-sex couples looking for a beach and a beautiful hotel rather than a scene.
Same-sex relations have been legal since 1991, but couples have no legal recognition, and attitudes in Nassau and on the smaller islands are generally traditional and church-centered. There is no gay nightlife to speak of, and most couples keep public affection for the hotel, the villa or the boat.
