The Best of Male: Waldorf Astoria & Reethi Rah

10 days£4595

Staying close to Male is often seen as the lesser option in the Maldives. The built-up capital is not on the tourism circuit. It’s a place you pass through on your way to and from your resort. People usually want to stay on a more remote private island. If the idea of long transfers is not for you and you’d like to avoid extended Maldives seaplane or speedboat, we have two amazing resorts for you to consider.

Both are premium luxury, located on dreamy private islands and they’re very easy to get to. Staying in one of these hotels or splitting your trip between both will give you the best of Male: while still enjoying the luxury private island experience.

Itinerary In Detail

Waldorf Astoria Maldives

Waldorf Astoria

The Waldorf Astoria is a classic luxury hotel in the Maldives. The private yacht ride from the airport is seamless and no expense is spared. Enjoy canapés whilst you sail, but do eat them quick: the boat ride won’t take more than 30-minutes.

You might be close to Male but you’ll feel like you’re staying on one of the Maldives’ more remote private islands. There are 11 restaurants and bars to choose from. You can even dine in a pod in a treetop restaurant. All of the villas are oversized and well spaced out so you’ll have plenty of privacy. All villas come with private pools. Floor-to-ceiling windows will give you panoramic views.

Reethi Rah

One&Only Reethi Rah

A 40-minute speedboat will take you to Reethi Rah island. One&Only is firmly established among the Maldives’ luxury hotels. It’s an all-villa destination stretching across six kilometres of secluded coastline. Soft white sand, blue lagoons and stunning sunsets all compliment each other to bring tranquillity to your holiday escape.

One&Only Reethi Rah is located in the North Malé Atoll, a jewel among a string of coral atolls, lagoons and white sands. For convenience, Reethi Rah time has been set one hour ahead of Malé time, providing an extra hour of daylight. The villas were designed by Jean-Michel Gathy and they are extremely chic. Many big-name celebrities have made repeat visits to One&Only Reethi Rah.
