The gay cruise has been in existence for many years. Indeed Atlantis Events was founded 25 years ago. Their model is to charter cruise ships from the major lines and then turn them into a party at sea for the week. And it's a lot of fun.
But that isn't your only option when it comes to cruising the seas. If you're looking for something a little more low key then the major cruise lines are now catering for the LGBT travel market.
Celebrity Cruises – perhaps one of the most gay friendly lines and one which has won a number of LGBT accolades – are proactively welcoming gay clientele to their ships. Some of their itineraries are particularly interesting too with overnight stops in islands like Mykonos, Mallorca and Ibiza allowing you to explore the restaurants, bars and nightlife in each.
Most of their cruises also have a dedicated meeting on board for those who want to hang out with like-minded travellers. You'll usually find them in the ship's daily newspaper. Most lines have moved away from calling them “Friends of Dorothy” gatherings thankfully, but keep your eyes peeled.
If luxury is your thing then Silversea Cruises are also very welcoming to gay clientele. Each cabin on the ship is provided with butler service and all your drinks are included – everything from a vodka to champagne.
At Out Of Office we're offering select cruises on both Celebrity Cruises and Silversea, but if you've seen one with them that isn't listed we can book that for you too and we can even combine it with one of our other itineraries or perhaps add on extra nights at the start or end port. All you need to do is ask!
