A Private Balcony Dinner Above Cusco’s Plaza de Armas

Dine on a private balcony above Cusco's great square as the colonial arcades light up against the dark shoulders of the Andes.

Above the Square

Colonial arcades built on Inca stonework around the Plaza de Armas

Cusco’s Plaza de Armas lies at the center of the historic city, ringed by colonial arcades set straight onto Inca masonry. It has been the city’s ceremonial heart since Inca times, when it was called Huacaypata. Only a few restaurants look directly onto it, and a private balcony table, booked ahead, gives you a clear view over the square as the evening lights come on, a memorable night for a couple or a pair of friends.

Beneath you the arcades glow, the cathedral and the Compañía church catch the light, and beyond the rooftops the dark mass of the mountains closes the view, the whole city seeming to gather around the square it grew from.

An Andean Menu at 3,400 Meters

Tasting-menu plate of native Andean potatoes and quinoa

At 3,400 meters, Cusco’s cooks rely on ingredients that thrive in the mountain climate: alpaca, quinoa in its many colors and forms, and the high-altitude potatoes of which Peru grows more varieties than anywhere on earth. Your tasting menu is built around exactly these, a taste of the Andes rather than a generic international menu, each course telling you something about the land around you.

At Your Own Pace

Candlelit balcony table overlooking Cusco's historic center at night

With no shared dining room and no fixed sitting, the evening moves as you wish, stretched over many courses or kept short before an early start for the Sacred Valley. Up on your balcony, away from the square’s usual bustle and timetables, the colonial arcades and the Andes beyond are lit only by the city’s own evening glow.

Arranged Around Your Journey

Out Of Office arranges the private table with restaurant partners in Cusco’s historic center and times it around the rest of your itinerary, ideally on an evening when you’ve had a day or two to adjust to the altitude. Your LGBTQ+ travel specialist can build it into a wider Peru journey through the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, and our Peru guide covers LGBTQ+ rights and travel advice.
