Argentina legalized same-sex marriage in 2010, the first country in Latin America to do so, and same-sex couples have been marrying here ever since. The country has strong legal protections, experienced celebrants, and hotels that handle the occasion well.
The rest of the argument is the country itself. Buenos Aires is one of the great cities of the Americas, dense with architecture, restaurants and late nights that stretch in directions you didn’t plan. Mendoza sits at the foot of the Andes with some of the finest Malbec on earth poured at altitude in vineyard lodges built for exactly this kind of trip.
Patagonia operates on a different scale entirely, where glaciers calve into lakes and the wilderness is so complete that the rest of the world genuinely recedes.
Argentina also combines well. A single itinerary can move from the sophisticated urban pleasures of Buenos Aires through vineyard country and into raw Patagonian wilderness without ever dropping below a high standard of accommodation or service.
That range, across such dramatically different landscapes and experiences, is what makes Argentina unusual in the luxury travel market. It is not a one-note destination, and the best itineraries treat it accordingly.
Out Of Office has been building Argentina honeymoon itineraries for years. We know which Buenos Aires hotels get the arrival right, which Mendoza lodges are designed for two people with nowhere else to be, and which Patagonia properties deliver seclusion along with access to the best luxury amenities. Every itinerary starts from scratch.
Gay Honeymoons in Argentina
Planning A Gay Honeymoon In Argentina
Argentina rewards preparation, and a honeymoon is exactly the trip where that pays off most. The properties that define this level of travel, especially through Patagonia, are rarely the ones a search engine turns up.
Out Of Office has spent many years learning which hotels welcome same-sex couples as a matter of course, not as an exception, and which lodges are designed with exactly this kind of trip in mind.
That knowledge shapes everything about how an Argentina honeymoon comes together: the sequence that lets Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and Patagonia each land at their own pace, the flight timings that turn vast distances into part of the journey rather than an obstacle to it, and the moment in Patagonia when the right lodge, at the right time of year, makes a landscape this size feel entirely yours.
Every itinerary begins with a conversation about what the trip should feel like: how much city, how much wilderness, how much stillness against how much to see.
Argentina has the range to deliver all of it in a single honeymoon, and our role is to shape that range into something that feels made for the two of you, from the first night in Buenos Aires to the last morning watching the light move across a Patagonian glacier.

Argentina’s Best Gay-Friendly Estancias
Argentina has emerged as one of Latin America's most progressive destinations for LGBTQ+ travelers, having legalized same-sex marriage in 2010 and consistently ranking among the world's most gay-friendly countries. Beyond the bright lights of Buenos Aires and the cosmopolitan wine regions of Mendoza, the country's luxury estancias offer an extraordinary opportunity to experience authentic gaucho culture while enjoying world-class hospitality.

The Best Gay Beaches in Argentina
Argentina has established itself as one of South America's most LGBTQ+ friendly destinations, and its gay beach scene is no exception. From clothing-optional beaches to urban stretches of sand, there’s plenty for gay travelers to discover. In Latin America, Brazil’s gay beach scene dominates in scale and international recognition, but Argentina’s beach scene has its own charms.
ReadWhere to Go on an Argentinian Honeymoon
Buenos Aires
The natural starting point, and one that deserves more than a night or two. Recoleta and Palermo are where the best hotels, restaurants and gay-friendly spaces are concentrated, and the city has an energy that makes evenings run long in the best possible way.
The annual Pride parade is one of the largest in Latin America, and the tango scene, for couples willing to learn, is one of the more romantic things Argentina offers. Stay at the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires in the Palermo mansion for a full arrival experience, or at a boutique property in San Telmo for something more intimate.
Mendoza
This is where the pace shifts. The vineyards outside Mendoza are made for long, unstructured days, cycling between bodegas, settling into extended lunches under the vines, watching the light change over the Andes.
The best stays here are deliberately low-key, vineyard lodges where privacy comes easily and hospitality feels intuitive rather than performed. It suits a honeymoon in the truest sense, unhurried, quietly indulgent, centred around food, wine and space.
Patagonia
If you’re willing to go further, Patagonia reshapes the trip entirely. El Calafate brings you to the Perito Moreno Glacier, vast and elemental, one of the few places that feels as dramatic as it looks. El Chaltén is more immersive, all sharp peaks and long trails beneath Fitz Roy, a landscape that feels completely removed from everyday life.
The lodges here are part of the experience. Small, design-led, and deeply considered, they offer seclusion, expert guiding and a level of comfort that feels earned after a day out in the elements. It is the kind of place that gives a honeymoon its sense of scale.

4A deeply rooted food culture shaped by European influence

Salta vs Mendoza: Argentina’s Wine Regions Compared
Argentina, the native home of Malbec, is one of the world’s top wine-producing countries. Choosing between its premier wine regions can be a tricky decision for wine lovers. While Mendoza reigns as the undisputed king of Argentine wine production, the northern province of Salta is the spiritual home of Torrontés, Argentina's signature white grape. Let’s compare Salta and Mendoza and see which wine region is right for you.
ReadBest Time For A Gay Honeymoon In Argentina
Argentina’s seasons run opposite to the northern hemisphere, which shapes the best timing more than in most destinations. October through December and March through April are the strongest windows overall, when Buenos Aires is warm without the heaviest summer humidity, Mendoza sits between harvest and the coldest months, and Patagonia’s peak season has either not yet filled up or is beginning to thin out.
December through February is Argentina’s summer, and the best time to visit Patagonia specifically. Trekking routes around Fitz Roy and the glaciers are fully open, wildlife along the Peninsula Valdés coast is most active, and daylight stretches long into the evening. This is also peak season for Patagonia’s lodges, so the properties worth booking should be secured well in advance.
March and April bring the grape harvest to Mendoza, making this a particularly good stretch to combine vineyard country with a Buenos Aires stay, before or after a Patagonia leg if the itinerary allows for it.
Buenos Aires itself works comfortably for most of the year, with December through March the warmest stretch and the rest of the year mild enough for a city-focused honeymoon. June through August, Argentina’s winter, sees most Patagonian lodges close entirely, so a honeymoon built around this period suits Buenos Aires and Mendoza far more than the far south.

Patagonia vs Iceland: Which Is Better for a Luxury Gay Honeymoon?
Both Patagonia and Iceland sit in that category of destinations people describe as “once in a lifetime.” Vast landscapes, dramatic scenery, and a sense of being far removed from everyday life. But they deliver that experience in very different ways, and for a honeymoon, the differences matter. The LGBTQ+ Angle Iceland has one of the most progressive records on LGBTQ+ rights anywhere in the world.

Buenos Aires vs. Santiago: Which is Better?
Two of South America’s greatest cities beckon travelers, each promising distinctly different flavors of Latin American life. Santiago rises from its mountain-ringed valley as a gleaming modern city, while Buenos Aires sprawls across the Río de la Plata with an air of faded European grandeur.
ReadCombining Argentina With Other Destinations
Argentina’s position at the southern tip of South America makes it a natural starting or ending point for a longer honeymoon, rather than a country that has to stand alone.
Chile pairs most naturally, particularly for couples drawn to Patagonia, since the region spans both countries and a single itinerary can cross the border to take in Torres del Paine alongside Fitz Roy and Perito Moreno, rather than choosing one side of the Andes over the other.
Uruguay sits a short ferry ride across the Río de la Plata from Buenos Aires, and a few days in Punta del Este or the colonial town of Colonia del Sacramento work well as a slower, coastal counterpoint to the pace of the capital.
Brazil extends a trip north into an entirely different register, from the beaches and nightlife of Rio de Janeiro to the scale of Iguazu Falls, which straddles the Argentina-Brazil border and can be visited from either side, or both, depending on the itinerary.
Combining countries on a trip this scale is not simply a matter of adding flights. Border crossings, domestic connections within each country, and the right sequencing between vastly different landscapes and paces all need to work together, which is exactly the kind of planning worth talking through with us directly rather than piecing together independently.
The best trips begin with a conversation, not a booking form.

Ushuaia sits at the very tip of South America, where the Andes finally meet the sea on the shores of the Beagle Channel. Is Argentina legal and safe for a gay honeymoon?
Argentina legalized same-sex marriage in 2010, the first country in Latin America to do so, and has some of the strongest legal protections for LGBTQ+ couples in the region. Buenos Aires in particular has an established, integrated gay scene, and hotels across the country are experienced in hosting same-sex couples for honeymoons and weddings.
How many days should we plan for an Argentina honeymoon?
Ten to fourteen days allows time for Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and Patagonia without rushing any of them, given the distances involved. A shorter trip of seven to eight days works well focused on two of the three regions, most commonly Buenos Aires and either Mendoza or Patagonia. Couples with more time can extend into Chile, Uruguay, or Brazil.
What is the best order to visit Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and Patagonia?
Most itineraries start in Buenos Aires, to adjust after the long-haul flight, move to Mendoza for a slower, vineyard-based middle section, and finish in Patagonia, so the trip builds toward its most dramatic landscapes rather than working backward from them.
Is Patagonia worth the extra time and cost on a honeymoon?
For couples drawn to dramatic, remote landscapes, Patagonia is usually the highlight of an Argentina honeymoon rather than an add-on. The best lodges function as much as base camps as hotels, and access and timing matter enough that this is a region worth planning carefully rather than adding at the last minute.
No two trips we plan are the same. Yours will be no exception.
Every itinerary starts as a blank page and is shaped around your pace, your routing and the places you actually want to see.
