History of Boulders Beach

Though the colony started with just a few penguins in the early 1980s, it has since grown to over 2,000 individuals. The beach is now part of the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area, which was established in 1998 to help protect the penguins and their habitat. Today, visitors can observe the penguins up close while also supporting their conservation efforts.
Boulder Beach is protected and area managed by the South African National Parks (SANParks). The primary goal of SANParks is to safeguard and conserve the African penguin population, ensuring that this remarkable wildlife attraction can be enjoyed by future generations.
