However, when you book with Out Of Office, we take away all the stress of planning your romantic getaway and plan it all for you, so the only thing you need to do is simply show up. Here’s some things to think about when it comes to planning a honeymoon…
Picking somewhere to go can sometimes be the hardest part of planning your trip. We recommend to think what it is you want - hot or wintery? Beach or city? One place or multiple stops? Cultural or cosmopolitan? Whatever it is you want, we’ll be able to find you the perfect destination.
Type of Trip
Everybody looks for something different with their honeymoon. Some people like to go exploring, sightseeing and out and about, some prefer to relax, chill out and not have to think about anything at all, others prefer somewhere in-between! Whatever kind of honeymoon you want we can provide. With our extensive background knowledge in travel and our ever growing list of partner hotels we can provide everything from a relaxing getaway to a private beachy island to exploring the hustle and bustle of multiple cities to give you everything you’re looking for and more. Additionally, because we are specialists in luxury tailor-made travel, we’re more able to please both parties if you can’t both decide on a destination or what kind of honeymoon you want. We can put together a tailor-made itinerary made around what you both want to create that truly special honeymoon that you will remember forever.
One of the most common questions we are asked when it comes to honeymoons is “do you need to change your passport names when you get married?”. This is an important question to ask. When it comes to getting married, a lot of people tend to want to change their names to the surname or their partner, or to change both names to a double-barrelled name. Whatever happens in terms of name changes, you must ensure that the names you use to register your holiday with us are the same names that are on both of your passports at the time of travel. If you wish to use your married name for booking a holiday, you can apply for a new passport with your planned new surname up to three months before the ceremony (but you must make sure this will be with you in time for your honeymoon). It is also important to note that if applying for a new passport with an updated surname, some countries that require you to apply for a visa to visit won’t issue you a visa if your passport is not yet valid. Flights are key to consider with name changes, as if the name is incorrect on the flight details versus your passport (or vice versa) there could be costly amendment fees.
Some travel companies advise that it is okay to travel on your old passport if you have your wedding certificate in tow. Whilst this may be okay sometimes, it is better to be safe than sorry and so we recommend leaving updating your passports until after you are back from your honeymoon. This makes it easier when booking, so you don’t lose track of what name you have used to book specific services. However, you should carry your wedding certificate with you when going on your honeymoon to ensure you benefit from any honeymoon upgrades that might be on offer at your resort or even possibly on your flights when you show them at check in!
We understand that honeymoons are the time to create your first happy memories together as a couple and so you want to create the best experience possible for both of you. We also understand that sometimes these can be costly, and so we have created gift vouchers for our service that your wedding guests can choose to contribute to your honeymoon instead of gifting something you don’t need. No matter what your price point, we can create the perfect tailor-made honeymoon for you both to create those memories on.
At Out Of Office, we understand that same-sex couples may be wary of staying in hotels in locations where LGBT rights are not as advanced. Rest assured our product team have built up special relationships with many properties in these locations and have thoroughly vetted them to make sure that every partner hotel we work with shares our ethos and vision. LGBT people are more than welcome in all of our partners hotels and will receive the same treatment and honeymoon benefits as any other couple, wherever the location.
For some people, honeymoons just may not be possible due to busy working schedules for example, or because the destination of your choice is out of season. Minimoons are the answer for couples with problems like these - a mini honeymoon to celebrate your marriage before your official main honeymoon, often over the course of a weekend or a few days. For example, UK customers with a wedding in January but wanting to honeymoon in the Greek islands may want to minimoon at Kakslauttanen Resort in Finland. They can stay in one of the luxurious glass igloos to watch the Northern Lights before taking their main honeymoon in the Greek islands when the right season comes around a few months down the line. When booking with Out Of Office, minimoons will still be as luxury and tailor-made as your main honeymoon, and just as much of an experience.
Gay Weddings Abroad
Have you ever considered getting married abroad? The idea has become more and more popular over the years, and many honeymooners now have their wedding and honeymoon in the same place to keep costs down and make the whole event even more spectacular. On top of this, our dedicated wedding planners are there with you to make sure everything runs smoothly and is taken care of down to the last detail. There are some locations where you can have a legal ceremony and others where you can have a symbolic ceremony. Get married at Riviera Maya at sunset before staying at the Zoetry Paraiso De La Bonita Riviera Maya, one of the finest all inclusive resorts to start your honeymoon. For something truly lavish then Bora Bora in French Polynesia is the perfect place. We can organise a traditional Polynesian wedding on the beach, including some pre-wedding arrangements such as hair and makeup.
